Absolutely, and we appreciate you bringing to our attention watches we may not have seen otherwise. I had no idea the 5271p existed! I love the 5270g blue dial most of all though. In person, the dial has a shimmer and glean that I don't think gems could match.

The blue dial is a very nice looking watch.

This is a regular 5271P. (Picture from internet)

That's a closer call to me with the blue dial. The white diamonds interplay with the black dial nicely, and I love them on the clasp.

Given the chance and choice, I'd go with the 5271P; it's rarer and more exotic. You can always find a dozen 5270s laying around another time. Plus, few men can pull off a watch with diamonds. If you're one of them, might as well show the world!

5270 vs 5970

For me, the 5970P is the nicest of the regular productions. The black dial is different to that on the gold versions as Patek slightly increased the size of certain numbers on the dial and completed the chapter ring. Platinum case is also just a pleasure.

If one could pick though, id most certainly want to own the 5970g salmon dial from the London exhibitions. To me the coolest perpetual calendar chronograph from patek. Picture from the www

I completely understand your logic here. Any variation of the 5270 is beautiful. What do you think of the 5270g with the blue dial?

I think 5270 blue dial is very unique. There is only one 5970 blue dial as I know. I need to view the real watch before I can give right comment. I do know 5970 blue dial charity auction on 2008 for HK $7,000,000

More watch I buy, more experience I have. Now I prefer slow decision.

I have sold all my Pateks in recent weeks, apart from my 5970p, for other reasons previously discussed on here, but which do not need repeating since certain members jumped to some completely innaccurate conclusions about my Patek collecting history.

I have never seen the 5271 with ruby before, but there must be a market for them.

Personally I think diamonds are Ok on mens watches, but ruby is a bit too much. The diamond on the 40th Anniversary Nautilus is not that noticeable.

I know gold and red are popular colors in China, so the ruby baguettes may be more appropriate in that culture. I saw these Nautilus at an AD in Asia a few months ago.

I am ok with white diamond. Other color diamond is too shiny for me.

Patek likes to put different color diamond on almost every diamond model. However, Patek only makes few for each model. I only have a chance to see them in London exhibitions. Still prefer white diamond.

Why did conkers sell off him Patek collection

I thought he's a huge collector. Does he have any insight on the brand going bad

Sorry I didn't mean to take the thread off topic. My own issues with Patek have no bearing on what is a fine brand making fine watches.

AFAIK, Patek has only produced the black dial 5271P.

I have not seen the 5971P in person, but they were also produced in small numbers. The 5971 came with a buckle, whereas the 5271 comes with a deployant clasp with diamond encrusted on the Patek logo of the clasp.
Do you know which year Patek announced for 5271P?

I believe it was announced at Basel 2014. So it has been out for a few years, although with small production numbers.

How many years for 5971P production?

Looks like you travel a lot for watches.

It is quite difficult to decide which 5270 model to go without seeing real watch.

I am consider to go for 5271P or wait for Basel?

As you are a new member to the forum, may I suggest that you do a search on Rogers previous posts and you will find the information that you require. And can then form your own opinion.

As Roger has already mentioned, he does not wish to distract from the topic of this thread.

Why 5970 has more value than 5270 in grey market? 5270 over production? over price? ??? Just curious.

I don't like my local AD either. Doesn't stop me popping past to look at the models. If you stay in Taipai some of the time there are 7 AD's. Surely you don't dislike all of them? Then there are another 4 in Taiwan not in Taipai. Cheers

Some ADs are expecting customer to buy a watch after you walking in retailer. That is wong. Sometimes, customer needs to look at the watch before making a decision. Patek is a luxury watch. Customer needs time to make a decision. There is nothing wrong about this.

I think most ADs do not like stranger customer, but a stranger can become a good customer after AD treats him friendly. Anyway, there are too many reasons that I do not like to walk in an AD that I do not have a good relationship with it.
