Hmm bought my first Rolex a week ago from an AD. It's an Explorer II, black.
Now I looked up the serial numbers (M99xxxx) just to discover that my watch is ooooold .... 2007 But I guess it's alright with something that never goes out of style and is designed to last for my lifetime Btw, great review JJ Irani - it definitely helped me decide to go for this model! |

Great review JJ. My boss purchased me a Rolex for my 5 year anniversary and I picked out a black faced Explorer II. I haven't worn it yet, but love looking at it :-)

Bought a White dial Exp II a couple of weeks ago from Watch Centre in New Bond Street in London for £2050, seemed like a bargain for a Rolex sports model. It has now replaced my Omega Flightmaster as my daily wearer and I love it, was thinking about saving up for the new GMT-II but I'm so happy with the Exp II, the most under rated watch in the range. Great review. Anyone got any pics of an Exp II on a leather strap (a tan one?) I was thinking about swapping over.

Great review JJ, now you have to change your signature collection and add this baby, this is my next Rolex! after this review i'm more convinced.
the AD should give you the comission.

This thread just clicked past 42,000 views... I wonder how many Exp IIs have been purchased along the way?
Cheers

upgrade
planning to upgrade my AK... choosing between SS GMTII (always wanted one with all black bezel), SS DSSD ("rare" and has stopped production -- "collectible"), and an SS ExpII (most recommend the black face since it's rarer here in the Philippines)!
after reading your review, scales have tipped in favor of the ExpII! good job JJ! |

I just picked up my V serial today, and looking at the list from 2008 at $5000, and now 9/09 at $5925....i paid $4600 new. Love the watch and great review. Spot on about the link configuration.

Yesterday I bought my first Rolex - E2. It is perfect, more than that but there is one think. I have a small wrist (17cm) and my combination of links is 5-5. But the clasp isn´t centered well. It will me better with 4 (on six) and 6(on twelve). Is it possible to change somehow?
My next question will be also for bracelet. Fits new Oyster bracelet with solid end links from actual model to model from 1991? It has same 20mm width. I heard that it cost about 600USD. Or maybe if it is possible to change the ending links only.. Jakub |

Now JJ has a white Exp II again... but I think this review should cover it (except perhaps the newer 3186 movement)
Cheers

With all this talk of the new Sub that's coming out does anyone have any thoughts/news of an updated Explorer 2?

People can say whatever they want about the polar EXPY, but I have never seen 15 pages of replies (with over 290 posts) on ANY other Rolex.

I've always been eyeing for a GMT IIc or a Sub, but I saw this thread and then I followed up with a personal visit at the local AD. Now, everything has totally cleared up. The burden of making a decision is gone. :) It is most definitely going to be an EXP II. Thanks, JJ.
Hey wait, there is one decision hurdle to face. Is it black dial or white? I am inclined towards the black dial though. |

Black dials are in abundance as far as Rolex sports watches are concerned, but the WHITE dials are only available with the Exp-II, Daytona and Milgauss. JJ

Hi JJ,
I understand that your Exp II comes with the 3186 movement. Just like to check whether does it have the anti-magnetism & anti-shock mechanisms? I will probably be getting one by this week. I have a Deep Sea, by the way... Cheers! |
