I cracked....Incoming

Ok, so I've been after a specific DJ41 for a while now. Been on "The List" at my local Rolex Boutique & another related AD since April with no signs of getting a call.

I cracked & went grey. Takuya had the exact watch I wanted at a reasonable price & still under the Rolex warranty for a few more years, so I decided to pull the trigger. I should have it today before noon. Just checked fed ex tracking & it's on the truck for delivery.

I'll post pics this evening when I get home.

Now, the question is what should I do with that eternal AD waitlist I'm on? Should I say nothing, & if by some miracle I get the call decline the watch? Maybe that would prevent me from getting something else in the future. Should I go by & switch my selection to another watch I like but probably wont get from them either, lol. Or should I just stay on the list & if I get the call purchase the watch & sell the one I just bought? No sense in having two exact watches....Oh the dilemma's #firstworldproblems

“You made a big mistake…huge!” Lmao.

Congrats on the watch, OP!

I would just stay on the list and decline the watch when and if it comes in. Being on the list and showing interest in a model is not a contract to buy. You’ll be fine. It’s not like the watch is coming in just for you. They will call all the other people on the list, first, and maybe get to you. Don’t sweat it.

Congratulations on your incoming!
As for the list, I would call them and switch to another model if it was me. "Lists" might be getting shorter and shorter...you never know and it doesn't hurt. You could argue that doing nothing (staying on list) won't help secure the next/other watch you want. I'm speculating, have no crystal ball, but in your position, I'd register my interest for another piece with that AD.

Congrats! Look fwd to wrist pics.

Let the AD know you already acquired it and thank them (stay positive)... and if you'd like kindly ask them for what model you want next.

Thanks guys. The watch was just delivered. I watched the Fed Ex guy hand it to my wife via my doorbell cam, lol.

So now I just need to get home & unbox it!

Funny because my buddy is visiting me this week from Miami & today is his birthday. "No Pete, this is NOT your B-day present!!!!"

As for the list, I'll probably go by the AD next week & switch it to a different DJ41, but this one the rose gold/SS with fluted bezel, chocolate dial on oyster.

And then maybe a new Explorer, but I need to try that one on again. I think the 36mm will be too small on my almost 8" wrist.

I'm hoping/guessing that you didn't spend a whole lot more than MSRP, and possibly saved on sales tax, so it's all good.

Just tell the AD that you were able to find the watch elsewhere, and now you'd like to buy a _________ whatever.

Congrats.

Guaranteed today is worth more than "maybe" tomorrow.

Enjoy your new piece, looking forward to pics

Thanks guys!

It honestly looks brand new. It even still has the plastic on the clasp! I think that whoever had it before just sitting in a safe. Still has 3 years of Rolex warranty left!
