Buy Rolex from US / US tax refund

Fellow US members,

If I'm buying a Rolex from AD in the state of Neveda / LV, do I get the tax back?
Is there anything like we have in Europe with foreigners getting back the VAT?

Thanks in advance for the help.

20 :D

While you don't get the sales tax back, some states do not have sales tax. Oregon and Delaware are two, and there are two others. Alaska would be another, but cites may have local (not state) sales tax.

NH does not have sales tax. Alas, unlike an American who travels to Europe, the USA keeps all sales tax collected.

if you purchase across state lines -- for example, ordering from a Florida seller to a New York address -- then you typically don't get charged sales tax

if you buy within the state, then you get charged. the rate varies by state (and sometimes also by the city). there are no refunds.

Almost correct. It's not the purchase across state lines, but the taking of possession at the point of purchase (vs shipping across state lines) that will trigger the local sales tax.
