Question about the 78490 Daytona Clasp...

I was wondering about the purpose of that second spring bar in the 78490 clasp. It is definitely not to adjust the clasp for size because I tried using that position and the clasp would not close.

Sorry if this is a basic question that has been answered before. Just curious.

the ends of it work as friction points for the fliplock when you close it.
