new to panerai questions
Panerai is a brand I have never considered before but after seeing them in the flesh and trying one on I was impressed at how solid they feel and the industrial but still well finished look about them, both characteristics which are shared by my ROO.. actually it felt rather similar to the ROO in terms of solidness and weight distribution
just wondering if Panerais are considered beater watches (can they be treated like a Rolex?) or if they need taking care of also would you recommend looking at new or used and anything else you think someone new to the brand should know thanks

For me it depends on the watch. Polished steel Panerai watches patina amazingly well. I have a 232 that has been through as washing machine and it came out fine. It looks great with scratch etc. Dare I say it looks even better?
I also have a 643 which is black ceramic. I'm gentle on it and very wrist aware. It looks so perfect in the matte black and hobnail dial. I don't want a mark on it (or more likely a crack)! So, my answer, it depends. A beat up 372 looks better to me than a BNIB 372, but not a gold or matte one.

my PAM 359 is my go to beater watch. If i went to war right now and had to wear one of my watches i would for sure pick the Panerai.

The history of panerai is an Italian naval watch, so it is definitely meant to be a work horse that looks better with age!
Preowned is always a better value. What size AP do you own? Depending on your wrist size you may want to look at 44 or 47mm pams Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

Solid movements + designs that look better with a bit of wear/patina = Panerai.

thanks for all the posts guys very much appreciated
i have 6.5 inch wrists, my current ROO is 42mm will probably be looking for panerai around 45mm but will see once i try a few on, one thing i cannot stand is when the lugs overhang but the 8 Days GMT I tried on was fine
