Welcome I would love to see some pictures and try to help.
Just a warning if you hang around here too much you will end up with multiple Rolex's (not that that's a bad thing ) |

I finally have pictures and more info on the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust, model is 16233 18kt/ss, Jubilee bracelet. He sent the following pics and a appraisal. He told me he bought it at Pearson's Jewelers in Manchester NH approx 12 years ago or so. Box and papers did not come back across the border into Canada as it might not have been declared to save on taxes. It just had a cleaning but it needs a polish and he says there is a extremely small chip in the crystal that you can feel but really hard to see. Last thing he said is that the date changes a couple minutes before hitting midnight but it never bothered him so he never got that fixed. Any other questions or other pics i should ask for? I will call the jeweler as he just had the watch in for cleaning to verify as well. Thanks again for any insight

Thank you all for your warm welcomes - Please feel free to let me know what you think -the Jeweler does confirm the appraisal they made is for the same watch he just serviced a week ago - its affordable being $2500 Canadian - that's what only $45 American at today's exchange - ok maybe $1900 American, just looking for an overall what do you think?

imho ..... for $2500 i think you can do better in terms of watch quality/upkeep. for a mid-2000s watch it looks to be in pretty bad shape. I've seen pieces from the 70s, 80s, and 90s which are in better shape. That bracelet (in the 3rd pic) is not good at all doesn't look usable. I think if you got it you'd just be buying the head and putting it on a leather strap.
just my opinion ..... i don't own any DJ and own primarily sports models so i'm sure other TRF will chime in who have more experience |

The watch is really not in that great shape for its age. I would pass on it personally. Spend just a bit more and you can get a Datejust in much better shape.

As others stated, you can find better in that price range. Bracelet is in bad shape but so is the case and bezel looks really worn/polished.

You can definitely do better for that price, it's pretty beat up. Hang around the sales forum here or check out Watchrecon and I'm sure you'll find a similarly-priced but much better looking 16233 within a week or two.
