Dave:

Will it show the GPS info in Dave's photo above?

How do you do it in Safari?

Hi Robert, it doesn't seem to give GPS.

In Safari;

Click on Safari>Safari Extensions gallery>scroll down to photo>click on and install ExifExt, it only takes a couple of seconds to install, once it has installed, when you right click or two fingered click on a photo it brings up the Exif data as on my photo, hope this helps.

Edit; Just thought, here's a link. https://extensions.apple.com/

Just bumping this to the top. I am still seeing a few pictures with pretty specific GPS info in them.

The Iphone 4 camera is a great improvement over the 3Gs.

This is a very interesting thread and I will start double checking my pics before loading them -

by the way I don't need a geotag to recognize the Edmonton skyline - I grew up there. Strange Coincidence I must say.

ok - got it working in Firefox - wow that is scary. Thank you thank you for the tip. I would have never thought of that - I have it turned on in my iPhone for sorting by location / mapping in iPhoto but I never thought of the implications of having that on pictures posted on facebook, etc. wow. Thanks very much.

Just wanted to bump this. I noticed some people are still posting photos with the GPS location in them.

Amazingly accurate, pinpointing locations to within a few feet.

I refuse to be taken hostage by the possibility of being robbed. I will never change my day to day routines, i.e. not showing my name in this forum, etc. because of a "break-in" at someone's house (see other post).

To give-in and change, means the would-be perpetrators win. If someone wants my watch that bad, I'll give it to them.

I have worked hard to be successful, and I love to share my good fortune with my friends.

Work hard, play hard and don't sweat the small stuff. The map/location feature on my phone is small stuff.

Please don't take offense to my philosophy - I live in a small southern town, where life is still pretty simple (plus I do have a CWP and enjoy target practice as a hobby)!!
Ditto, I also am WELL aware of the geotagging and purposefully leave it on because it serves me.

But again, I also live in the South, and retain full rights, so that could be a factor.

Good info for the TRF community - thanks for sharing.

FWIW, regular bumping won't change all members' behavior as some already mentioned why in this thread. Best to ask for "sticky" status for the thread and author a "how-to" for the top smartphones around the globe.

BTW, the iPhone camera app is not alone in providing location-based EXIF info - others do it too. Also, one can turn off location service for the camera but if you leave it on for other apps like Flickr, Photobucket, etc. (used to upload images) or Tapatalk (used to create the post in TRF) - then your location is available again.

If people want to see geo-tag taken to the max, look into a new app called Color. It creates a geo-tag network with other users around you (say in a restaurant or sporting event) and allows constant photo sharing among the users.
