Is this genuine Yatch Master?

Hello all,
New member, I apologize if I am posting in the wrong section. I picked up a Rolex Yatch Master a few weeks back. I checked a lot on the internet to learn about the things I have to look to spot a fake. From what I had learned this turns out to be genuine, and I am a newbie. Couple of things that tells me it might be a fake are - the second hand is stainless steel with a white circle; the links that hold the strap are a 'pin' not the tiny screws. I removed 3 links so that it would fit my hand. I paid less than two hundred bucks in an estate sale. I know I took my chances. I intend to keep this, maybe pass it to my son when I am old. Pictures were shot with a camera that didnt have a macro option. Thanks for your help.

Wow.

You'd have spent to much money had this catastrophe cost a buck and change.
The watch is a low grade fake, and isn't worth anything other than a swift strike with a 10 pound sledgehammer.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news (if your intentions were good), but you've made a bad investment with your money!!!
This thread now resides where it belongs.

You don't need a macro option to tell that is a fake, sorry. The only person you should pass it onto is the garbage collector.

Less than two C-notes? Meh. Look at the bright side; many have been screwed out of a lot more money than you were. As my late wife used to say, Be happy today.

Not shocked to hear it is a fake

Hi there,
Thanks for shedding light. I am not shocked to hear that it is a fake. As my original post said that I wasn't completely sure. To all the folks, tell me 3 glaring things that said it was a fake. Hopefully get more educated. Honestly I thought I have to take pictures with a macro to make them visible to you all. Thanks again.

Spelled wrong..

Ambsteve nice observation. I made an error, it is "Yacht-Master" I spelled it as Yatch- Master. That is how much I know about watches. Is it still a fake? I am not counting on it to be genuine, but I want to know, so that I won't make this mistake again. Thanks.

It's a fake.
I prefer not to go into detail on a public forum for hopefully obvious reasons.
Assuming you have no chance of getting your money back (estate sale = probably not) then I would suggest that the watch be disposed of - again for hopefully obvious reasons.

Your watch is FAKE. No if's and's or but's....
If you try doing some research of your own, compare a genuine one to yours, and you'll see the numerous errors of yours...

My advice, dispose of that watch ASAP.

Yeah that is a horrendous fake! Clear case back pfttt

The price you paid should have been the most clear indicator of the authenticity of the watch...

Sorry about that.

Sorry to tell you that you've paid $190,-- too much
But these Yatch Masters may be valuable in the future - I have not seen one yet

We're not doing that - but you may want to start by checking Rolex.com if you find a Yacht-Master with white dial

Why wait until you're old - Your Son would appreciate the $200 Toy before it gets old and the dials fall apart.

It's such a bad fake and I'm sure you knew that. Your obviously just testing to see how good a fake it was and would people know your going around with a fake Rolex.

Wow! Some harsh critics in here. My advice, as I still consider myself to be somewhat new to this, is to take it to an authorized dealer or watch repair place and ask them. Someone mentioned the clear case back. These watches do not come with a clear case back, but that doesn't make it a fake. There are people out there who make custom clear case backs for Rolex watches.

A genuine Rolex will not have obvious flaws or shoddy workmanship. Everything will be very precisely made. Do searches on YouTube for how to spot a fake Rolex. You can learn a lot from those. Hope this helps.
