There was a time I would have definitely said black. After owning probably 15 Subs in my life, black is boring as hell for ME. It may not be for you though. I would go with the green. In certain light it can actually look black. It's a bit of a chameleon.

I wear my green in a suit, short sleeve shirt, shorts and flip flops, whatever. It's a Rolex, it goes with anything.

As has been said above, your money, your watch. Try them both and see which one sings to you. Good luck

I prefer the black as well.

The Hulk is nice but I feel that I would get tired of it in a while. I would consider the Hulk only if I have a few more Rolexes.

Now that I have a 104060 (my only luxury watch), my next purchase will be one with white dial.

I had the 50th anniversary LV and sold it to a friend. I had bought it with a trade from my first Rolex in Japan a year after the LV came out. The maxi-dial and larger minute hand pulled me in. I bought the "Hulk" and was surprised it didn't have PML's.

As I look back, I would like to have both today! I agree with those who say - Go Green!

The green is great as a second or a third watch. As an everyday piece I think the black is a better fit.

Assuming you like both equally...GO GREEN! Your DateJust II will handle any formal attire; why not have some fun with your second option! No mistakes either way.

The black was very dull to me no offense guys for the ones who like the black. The green is vibrant and full of life and honestly it is VERY versatile and will go with everything.

1- Do not pick a watch based on what people think
2- Do not pick a watch just because it’s a classic and popular
3- Do not pick a watch for just occupation purposes as it may or may not match your job/position/dress code\

The watch you choose should sing to you and cannot stop looking at it and makes you happy.

Take your time, try them both in detail.

Good luck
+1

I tend to like something which is less popular. It's fun to stick out a bit. I would go green.

So to the OP, which color did you eventually settle on? I'm going thru a bit of that dilemma right now. Really like the LVc but just not sure if it's long term....

Green all the way.
Be different, be unique.
The color of the dial and bezel will change at different angles.

I've heard from many that the Hulk is not the best daily... I love the look of the Hulk but would only go for it as a second sports diver model.

I've been thinking of picking up an LV lately as well. It would not be my only Rolex and had I not had a 16610 for 15+ years (recently gave it to my son) I'd probably go with the LN for sure. But seeing as I wore one for so long the LV has some appeal as a change, a different take on the Sub. But every time I go look at the LV I can't help but respect what a classically handsome watch the LN is.

Get what you like and don't put a time limit on making the decision. The safe choice is the black dial. If you really can't decide I'd probably go with the LN. You may end up lusting after the LV, but there's little chance you'll get tired of the LN.

Best of luck.

I've had the original black dial for 5 years and really got bored of it. I also have a GMT II C in which didn't really sing to me either. I now wear the Green Sub as a daily for about 2 year already and love it.

The black is very versatile but it got boring to me and I wanted to be a little different. I love the dial of the green sub. It'll be tough for me to go black again.

I'd go black for a daily. I love the green, however, I think as a daily the green might get old. IMO of course. Having said that, I would love to add the "Hulk" to my collection.

Black dial, or Blue dial... Green is interesting but for me.

Fishingbear's approach with a bezel swap-out has merit, but I wouldn't go for one with a green dial.

A solid gold GMT with a green dial on the other hand......

Green for sub, black for Gmt (Blnr). That would be my suggestion. Good luck!
