My Rolex is not winding automatically, the watch was checked twice by a local watchmaker. The first time he just lubricated the automatic mechanism and watch kept its defect. Second time he completely overhauled the entire movement ... still no go!! Any clue? Watch is not magentized. I'm thinking of having it serviced by Rolex in Milan at this point.

Sounds like the energy storage needs R&R. Common problem after many years of use.

Job was done by the same watchmaker that did an overhaul 2 & 1/2 years ago.

Energy storage aka mainspring is not what I'm thinking of, more likely worn-out reversing wheels & driving wheel for ratchet wheel.

Explain "doesn't autowind" more fully. Do you mean that you hand-wind it and then it stops after 48 hours, no-matter-what?

Or does it stop after a few days? Perhaps you are not as active as you once were.

it doesn't wind on an automatic winder or on wrist. I wounded it and put it on the winder, after 50 hours it stopped so it's not winding.

How many TPD's is your winder set at?

Like I said earlier, there are quite possibly a few parts worn-out, they need replacement. The watchmaker you went to didn't replace any parts which I find odd. Bring it in for service to a watchmaker with a Rolex parts account or RSC.

Yes it's expensive but you'll have two years of international warranty on the service and you'll know it's probably good for another 5-10 years.

I do know that your watch has a rotor problem which is a cheap and easy fix.

That's why I asked you if you could still wind it but you sat and watched this thread for 30 minutes without replying and then left.

The next time you ask for help I'll make sure to ignore you.

You don't have to be a watchmaker to check out these threads. There are a lot of enthusiasts with many years of experience who are more than capable of figuring some of these things out. I go on car forums asking for help sometimes. I don't get upset if someone who isn't a mechanic helps me out. It probably isn't the smartest thing to insult someone who has over 40,000 posts and who obviously knows way more than you do.
