i haven't taken a super hard look between the SD4K and BLNR but my understanding is the case and dial are the same...except that the case on BLNR has wider and longer lugs. I believe the extra thickness comes from the raised casebook on SD4K.

I'm sure there will be TRF members who will know exactly...but just my understanding based on what I've read and can see visually between the two watches

Great piece. The matte dial against the gradient gloss bezel contrast really makes the dot plots pop. Yes, symmetry is perfect for my 6.75 inch wrist as well :-)

Great review and totally agree

Had mine since June 2016 and it is now by far my most worn watch.

While I was in the Chicago boutique trying them both on, it appeared to me that the extra thickness in the SD4K vs SubC just was just due to the raised case back, and FWIW, the salesperson confirmed that.

Really love the SD4K over the typical Sub as well. Lug shape and size... and there is a certain badass presence it has to it with the raised crystal, granular bezel and thickness... all adds up to a boss like presence.
it is BADASS!

As you know, I have the same pair (BLNR & SD4K). Every day is like the Clash of the Titans as I try to decide which of the two to wear. They're both just awesome pieces, each in their own way.

Congrats!
Thanks! Both are awesome! SD4K winning the clash so far over BLNR. Let's see what other goodies come up in March at Basel

1. Bezel tightness. Mine have some slight backplay on clockwise direction. Perhaps normal as encountered the same on SubC.

2. Accuracy. Now, this is big one. Mine is released under Superlative Chronometer branding, plus minus 2 sec per day but I'm encountering north of 3 sec fast daily. Still within old chronometer standard but not as accurate as I want.

If I could make one modification, unidirectional bezel instead of bidirectional. I use the timing bezel to time and make note of significant number. Unidirectional will be more beneficial for my purpose.
i think bezel tightness may depend slightly from watch to watch, i have noticed some play on some watches, not just the SD4K - however for the most part they seem pretty solid/tight. Fortunately my AD had 3 in stock and let me choose the one that I wanted, which was the one still in the coffin

North of +3 is ok.... depends on how much... i'd tolerate as much as +5 before my OCD kicked in :-)

With respect to the SD4K bezel it is unidirectional.

FYI-
Another example of the AD not knowing their product. The whole watch, not just the case back, is thicker than the SubC.

OP- love the pics. Such a great watch.

Mine SD4000 has some slight modifications:

I had to take the perfect three-handed watch and make it mine....

Ok so I just sold my 16600 and am considering the 116600....anyone here done this? If so, is the case on the new SD similar to the old? Or in ohter words, should I anticipate that same boxy feel like on the new Subs? It looks to be somewhat tapered but wanted others opinions before I pull the trigger

Much different than a new sub. The new sub is very boxy and the SD4k looks much more proportioned, IMO. Not my pic but this gives you an idea

Thanks to all! The SD4K is amazing watch! Surprisingly, even though its a deep diver watch, i haven't even gotten it wet yet!

I do train for triathlons so i guess i could swim with it (and no harm will come to the SD4K) but I typically use my Garmin triathlon trainer for that

The new SD is slightly boxier than the old SD, but not as boxy as the new Sub. I'd say it's in between, which is perfect.

I recently sold mine as I bought a Daytona C. Seeing this thread has made me want to get it back! Damn! Feeling a little bit of regret here.

At least your regret can be short lived. No waiting list for sd4k like the daytonaC :)
