Opinions on this 1680

Can the rust around the dial be easily removed?

Any observations and opinions appreciated.

Maybe. I still wouldn't touch it at that price though.. who knows where else it's rusting.

The seller said the watch was not serviced and the rusting would easily come out.
Your point is well taken. The movement could have rust.

I am moving on.

Thank you!

IMHO only spend time and money on a piece you can hold and inspect or at least return with no problems. M

Hear hear. Patience is key. I wish I could go back in time and slap myself for the first 3 watches I bought.

The case actually looks all original and unpolished to me. I have a -78 1680 with identical chamfers that I know is unpolished. The movement seems unharmed in the movement shot. The dial also looks as if it hasn't been harmed by the moisture. If the rust is superficial it might be possible to remove it chemically and not physically.

The price is already at $4800 and three hours left, it will not be the deal of the century...

I just went and looked at it. The rust near the crystal seems more than I was expecting. Also, I believe its not mentioned in auction but the bracelet is short a couple links.
