Rolex hat

Can anyone explain the big deal about a simple hat that says rolex on it. We are fans of the rolex 24 at Daytona and there seems to a problem acquiring merchandise bearing the rolex logo I can only guess rolex is behind this. Seems strange to put up advertising money and limit the use of the trademark

I see the hats for sale all of the time, and I have a couple. They are out there.

But many of them are simply are not genuine authorised from Rolex and in many cases copywriter infringements.

Yeah,

That's definitely one HUGE incentive not to wear one.

Yep....just took a look at eBay....there are currently four Daytona Rolex caps for sale with an asking price of up to $70+. Or, if you really have more money than you need there is another model for $188. As already said, no guarantee these are authentic and they also serve as a flag to let the muggers know where you are.

My last purchase was a 114060 at my local AD and I asked for some sort of (any) freebie and they gave me a very nice Rolex green Polo shirt with Rolex embroidered in gold on it. Sweet!! I haven't seen any hats.

Thanks for the replies, didint think about the look at my hat / steal my watch any more than I worry about my car being stolen from the parking lot of a restaurant or sporting event. I like rolex merchandise like anybody primarily Motorsport items. Was amazed at the eBay prices lol crazy.

I dont know how many of these hats/caps would be fake as I dont think theres much of a market for Rolex caps anyway. Fakers have much better ways of spending their time to make money.

Really? I disagree...but if you read almost every one of my posts and came to that conclusion, so be it. You clearly have time on your hands. I commend your status as a man of Leisure.

Sure. I'll take a hug. Or a tip of the - wait for it - hat.

Have a nice day. How's that for an optimistic post?

The Rolex logo is a Trademark and as such needs a license to produce or sell and Rolex doesn't just hand out licenses to anybody.

It's no different than the NFL or any other owner of a Trademark.. Lots of counterfeits, especially the hi-priced items on e-bay.

Alright, I like this one much better. Maybe my perception is skewed lately, but you just seem negative with the latest threads I've seen you post in.

Well played with the "tip of the...hat" comment.

Brandon, don't you think his point is valid?

The hat may look neat, but who really wants to go out of your way and advertise your wearing a Rolex.

Most people have no clue, but a neon sign would sure solve that problem for you.

Yeah, I do see the point. I just think that's a real negative way of thinking. There are many things, and nothing at all, that could draw someone to rob you. Someone wanting to show brand appreciation shouldn't get made to feel like they'll get robbed over it immediately. Just a negative/pessimistic way of looking at it. Only point I was making.

I could wear a $2500 Armani suit and be targeted for the same reasons. Or drive a nice car. Or rare Jordan's. Or a MontBlanc pen. Etc.

Thanks - I guess.

Nice to know someone cares.

BTW, please don't read any of Padi's or Larry's posts. They might not score high on your happy meter.
