This or That: 5100J or 3940J

All, I have a ~20 watch balanced collection. Both the PP 5100J and the 3940J fill gaps in the collection, and I have an opportunity to buy one or the other. Since this will probably be my last Patek, if it were your choice, which would you go with and why?

3940j as I prefer the look of the watch and prefer a perp calendar over a power reserve

Both are great watches.

The 5100J is obviously a LE watch and with the 10-day power reserve, quite a feat for any watch manufacturer.

The 3940J was produced for ~ 20 years, so it was not limited in production numbers. However if you do not already own a perpetual calendar, this would be a great buy.

Ideally a Patek PC and a 10-day PR watch would both be included in a ~20 watch collection.

Personally, I would choose the 3940J.
IMO, its one of the best Perpetual Calendars.

The 5110 is very unique in it's case design. Either you love it or hate it. Long power reserves dont really mean much to me. I dont mind winding my manual winding watch everyday. The 3940 has a lot of history to it. It was one of the watches that saved Patek from the downfall during the digital watch era (see this link http://www.bexsonn.com/patek-philippe-3940/).

The 3940, and its variants are extraordinary timepieces. Add one to your collection, and I bet it will get a great deal of wrist time.

Ok love the R and G but this P is even cooler, awesome John
John has the coolest Gondolo, but the R and G are very cool, and if to look at the current line up this one is really nice, this might be a watch I would want to have some day
