new old Rolex

Hi,
I am new to this site. My grandfather just gave his Rolex he had won from his employer in 1978. It is a Oyster Perpetual DATE. The serial # is:5,607,259 and the Case ID is: 1503. It currently has an acrylic face. It also has a "T swiss T" dial with 8 round and 2 baguette diamonds. Also it has a diamond bezel. The case is 14K along with an aftermarket 14K jubillee style bracelet. My questions to you are:
  • Can I exchange the acrylic face for a sapphire crystal face?
  • How can I tell if the diamond bezel is genuine bezel...I suspect it is not?

How do I go about finding authontinc braclets and bezels to replace these aftermartket items?

Thanks,
Dan

There are some aftermarket sapphire conversions for an acrylic watch...However, they may not ensure the water tightness of your original..

the Oyster Perpetual did not come with a diamond bezel, so it is likely not authentic... also the dial sounds suspect.... Finding a Rolex bracelet of that era may yield one not much better than a good aftermarket.

If it were mine and I wanted it back to original, I would take the bracelet off, the bezel off, and send it in to a Rolex Service Center and ask that those pieces be fitted along with a service..

But, be prepared... an authentic gold bracelet will cost more than the watch is actually worth..
