Funniest thing, my kid's school use iPad (one of the top Apple users in America) and they recommended NOT to upgrade until 8.x (debugged) version is out i should listen before acting!

Yeah, I think I'm going to sit this upgrade out for a bit. iOS upgrades are hit or miss, really - either they go without a hitch or they lay waste to your device.

Gerardo, if you haven't done so already, you might check out the iPad support forums on apple.com. It's a good place to find out if it's a widespread issue and, if it is, what others are doing to work around it. If I come across anything, I'll post it.

I haven't as my iPad is only a 16gb and the iOS requires 6gb of memory to download! So will have to remove some stuff first.

Will as above wait to they iron out any issues

Upgrade took 10 minutes on both Iphone and Ipad, both units works like a charm.

Jocke, what iPhone do you have? I'm still on iPhone 5, and wonder if this update makes sense? Can't wait to get to pre-order iPhone 6 over here.

I have a 4s and I don't see any differences yet. I will go for the 6+ but I wait until start of the next year.

I have a 5S... mine is working fine after the update.. did it OTA and no remnants of the old system on my phone.. like others have said, nothing hugely different but lots of under the hood stuff which will make it more user friendly (more of a catch-up update to bring it level with Android)

I downloaded the update over the Wi-Fi at home. It took a fairly long time to download and I have a very fast connection. It's more a function of volume. I think a lot of people are downloading the updates and slowing down the system. Visually it seems almost the same as IOS7. I like the new keyboard approach. As for the rest of the features, like Health, I'll need to explore.

Never, ever do a major upgrade first.

Always let others sort it out. There is no advantage but many disadvantages to being first.

Upgraded iPad and iPhone5s last night and everything seems fine. The annoying thing is that most of my apps haven't been updated to operate on iOS8 so many of them are giving me error messages. You'd think they'd be aware to have an update ready.

My iPhone 5 has just completed update and all seems great!

Only thing I have just noticed which I'll look into later is my photos and photo stream albums have been replaced with recently added and most of my photos have disapeared off the albums and can only be found under photos which list them on a calendar type layout?

I hear you loud and clear Cru... I went through the same pain last time around which is why I am now the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S5!!!! I've decided to become an operating system agnostic... I don't really care any more.

Wife and kids still using iPhones and iPads, but I've jumped ship.

People! it's only an operating system, don't get so excited, it won't miraculously change your phone into a Rolex

I wait until 3-4 patch levels - my wife and kid usually brick their phone on the first day and wait for DAD IT SUPPORT fixes it. So I wait.

One of the reasons I wait - the developers may have updated their stuff but Apple may not have approved the upgraded apps.

I find it very laggy on my iPad mini I also find many apps to judder, the Apple music app being the worst, what is it about Apple and updates? Why can't they get it right first time, users should not have to wait till problems have been ironed out and update after patches have been installed, the problems should have been identified beforehand.
