Daytona

Hi Techs,

Have any of you come across a Rolex with black specs which could be dust on the minute markers? I have read several posts that would imply that the Daytona is dustproof and watertight. I have not opened the caseback and do not recall seeing the dust or specs when I received the watch. I posted a thread in the general discussion area with pictures.

I went to the Rolex Dealer today and they indicate that the watch is 100% authentic. Any help would be appreciated.

I think a picture would help...

Here is a picture of the 40 minute marker with the most obvious specs.

How old is the watch? Have you had it serviced recently?
To me it looks like moisture damage, but you should let a watchmaker look at it, or maybe one of them here will give you advise!

I see the specs, but more importantly I see some degradation around the edges of the sub-dials..

While the photo is not clear, as Mireyna noted, moister will begin to work on the very edges of the materials first, or it gets under or combines with the paint matrix.

I agree, a watchmaker should be consulted to see if the movement has any rust or corrosion and might shed more light on the answer.

Thanks for your help, and insight. I contacted the seller today and will send the watch to a watchmaker for a thorough inspection.
