Incoming LV

I bought my first Rolex last week. I had been searching for a Hulk for a few weeks. Having no relationship built with any AD, it was tough to even get them to talk to me. Everyone acted like they knew nothing. Last week I walked into a locally owned AD and hit it off with a rep there. I told her I was looking for a Hulk, she said they had a couple subs in the back, not out for display. Complete shock for me. She brought out a preowned LN ND and a new Bluesy. The LN was only a month old, still all 5 yrs left on warranty. I bought that watch and told her to still let me know if she got an LV in. I was so ecstatic to own the LN and kind of assumed the Hulk was a piece I would never own and that no AD would call me back. When I bought the LN, I also met the owner of the spot and apparently I made something of an impression on him as we are both local business owners. Yesterday, 6 days later after I bought the LN, I got the call that they had just received a Hulk and the owner had given me first dibs. Well, I knew my wife would not be so keen on me buying two Rolex watches the same week after not owning any. So, I wondered about selling the LN, even though on the inside I really wanted to keep it and have both iconic subs in my new collection. Had breakfast with my dad who is also a watch enthusiast and he said buy the Hulk or I will. lol. He offered, very easily, to take the LN off of my hands. As he said, this way one day you will own both when I pass away since I am the only son. So went to AD, passed my LN to my father and walked out with my new HULK. So ecstatic to have worn two iconic pieces this week. I loved the simplicity and cleanliness of the LN but the LV is something else. I had never seen this watch in person until today. Blessed to be able to own this iconic piece that I hold onto forever. Two Fridays in a row with new Subs...great week!

Congrats! I live pretty close to Austin. And just picked up my hulk three days ago. Maybe they sent them all to Texas lol. I had somewhat of the same experience with my store owner. And my sales associate said the same thing. That the owner gave her permission to sell the watch to me before any other clients. Goes to show good thing happen to good people. What a beautiful watch. Wear it in good health!

Great story. Congratulations on the Hulk. I am hoping I can get one later this year. I would have the same dilemma as you with the wife at this point though. Someday soon (sigh)!

Nice, on the list at one AD that I've had prior purchases with trying to "build a relationship." Been about 9 months and no word. God knows if I'll hear back.

Walked into another AD who said they can get me one if I buy some jewelry. Not sure how many "relationships" I'll need to start just to get one watch!

Congrats on the watch. It's a great piece.
I hope you enjoy it for many years.
I think it's really awful though to see that people new to the brand in the past year are being led to believe that they may never be able to acquire certain pieces that only a year ago had multiple pieces in most AD's.

Congrats!! Great story. Wish my local AD's were like that. I walked in as a new customer and got nothing. One actually laughed (pissed me off). They told me they only get a couple per year and not accepting anymore people on the waitlist. One AD was polite and put me on a waitlist for both the Hulk and Batman. After two months I bought them used. Been a year almost still no call. I can only imagine how hard a Daytona would be to get. Willing to buy new from AD's, but live in a larger city so no watches are available to new customers.

Congrats! From no Rolex to 2 incoming SS sports models in 1 week. What a great first time AD experience! This is how everyone should be treated at their AD. Cool story and glad to hear that your Dad is now enjoying the LN. Thanks for sharing.

That's a great story. Congratulations to you and your father.

Though, I can't help mentioning I felt weird (to say the least) when I realized we consider ourselves "blessed to be able to own a Rolex" simply because the market and availability are crazy. Blessed to be able to afford something like that? Sure. Blessed to be given the opportunity to spend your hard-earned money for a watch that is "rare"? Hell no. The ADs should be thanking us, rather than vice versa. Sorry for the rant
