Magnum did not always wear a 1675

I was catching up on my Magnum PI while traveling last week and started from season one. To my surprise his watch was featured often in the first two seasons and was a brand called Chronosport. I remember Magnum got his 1675 from his father but I did not remember another watch being featured in the show before a Rolex.

A Rolex sub surely would have been more period correct for a naval officer. :)

Hi Matt.
Is the last pic from Magnum?
If so he's wearing not a 1675. it's a 16750 shown in the pic ;-)

Nice catch buenosdias. I've got the watch, now all I need is the moustache and the amazing chest hair.

I remember the episode explaining the watch vividly, what a heart wrenching story any WIS would understand. As for the Chronosport, I remember that brand from the late 70s!

The clips and pic are from a Magnum PI fan page in Russia. I cant verify 100% short of asking Tom Selleck myself

I can't believe that Magnum PI is a thing.

I'm more of a Don Draper man, myself.

Magnum PI is an old TV show and one I did not realize had any fans.

Don Draper is the main character on the 1960's period drama "Mad Men" whose series recently ended, won many Emmy's, and has legions of fans. If you like Rolexes and TV shows, suggest you check it out.

But this was a discussion about Magnum PI and the watches from that show?

What does this Don Draper character have to do with Magnum PI? I don't see a correlation....

Many people think John Hamm is the Tom Selleck of the 10's and both had an affinity to wearing Rolex products on-screen and off.

But everyone will tell you that it is impossible to have a tropical chocolate dial 16750...it's the lighting I'm sure.

Funny that in the Don Draper pic he's wearing a modern Explorer..that show was/is (Only watched a few times) typically pretty good about having period correct timepieces on their actors.

Thought you had me there, did you? You know what I've got up my sleeve, you know what's coming next. Cruise Ship Captain and known submariner? No contest. Fold before I confirm and I'll let you keep half the pot.

Why are you doing this?

Bringing up all these soap opera characters when the thread is about Magnum PI?

That was the funniest thing I've read all day, thank you.

(You did mean for that to be funny, right? I mean, there's not some secret society of hardcore Magnum PI fans that think their soap opera is better than the Miami Vice, Dallas, or Love Boat soap opera's who I've offended, yes?)

TV is all 'make-believe'...while it can be fun to compare watches & note the individual wearers, it's almost like dwelling on what model Timex 'McGyver' used as a timer to blow up a bridge.
