I'd be up for flying somewhere on vacation if I knew I could walk out with one.
The thing is I haven't been able to find a 5711 to try on.
My grail list is down to a 15300 or a 5711. I've tried the 15400 (too big) the 15202 too fragile, and the 5167 (just right but the Mrs. doesn't like it). I've got her approval for a 5711 I just need to try one on to make sure it's The One.
It's the one, trust me.

ADs will often sell the 5711/1A and the ceramic SS Daytona to their existing customers first, even if they have a wait list.

There are other threads about gray dealers and other resellers and how they obtain their watches. But they can be an AD's largest customers, because unlike watch enthusiasts who typically purchase one or two watches at a time, the resellers often buy 10 or 20 watches at a time. With that kind of relationship with an AD, they are able to negotiate better pricing and terms. Resellers also network with other resellers and will often buy from one another.

However you hear story of ADs losing their license because they sold too many watches through the backdoor. I don't know if that is true, but I know Patek has decreased the number of ADs from the 700s to the 400s over the past 5-6 years.

I think this is true. I wasnt even looking for a 5711 and my AD phoned to say he had one that had come in unexpectedly and did I want it...said sure!! He has been waiting for a blue dial for himself for 3 years and Patek have made a December allocation to him!

Hi James,

Nice watch, love to see it in person. We should do a catch up with our 5711's.

Congrats and wear it in good health.

Bill

More details please.

It looks like a 5711/1A with the 5711G dial to me, it´s a beautiful combination, though.

Be cool to see a close up of the dial...the PP looks like its on a different placement and as its a 40th Anniversary must be a new look! Cheers

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble!

It is just a regular 5711 (the same one I posted sealed a few pages back), the dial emitted this stunning grey tone when I first tried it on that I snapped and uploaded.

It is however a lot darker than what I had originally thought.

Would be funny though if the anniversary Nautilus just had a dial from a discontinued version and nothing else.
