Tudor BlackBay 58 925 : My Patina Diaries

Hi there watchfam, this is my first Tudor purchase and I'm really impress with the overall quality, the built, accuracy, and most importantly the look of this beautiful taupe dial with silver case.

I bought this 925 in 12 May 2021.

Start with the first day snapshot.

Tudor BlackBay 58 925 : My Patina Diaries

Within 5th day of rotational wearing with other watches, the 925 starts to show some tarnishes, first two positions are behind the lugs.

Also the crown starts turning a bit yellowish.

Yes, I wiped it with wet microfiber cloth every few days.

Washed it once I change the strap.

This BlackBay 925 is made from silver and it will tarnishes.

Great detailed shots here!

Any plans to use a silver polishing cloth, or are you just going to let it go for now?

those are great shots but mine shows zero signs of tarnishing at any of the points yours is going after checking under a x40 loupe. i have had mine since 23.4.21 and i have worn it at least every other day since then albeit i am a "gentle" wearer of watches generally speaking

I will let it ages naturally for now, see when it will slow down and stable.

I'm a gentle wearer also but I guess it depend more on the climate and weather.

Mostly of tarnishes reported are from Asian country, including me from Thailand.

Mine start to show the tarnishes since first 4 days of wear.

It might not turn out too bad. It’s kind of like American Silver Eagle coins.

Gorgeous watch. I absolutely LOVE my Tudors. The movement is so buttery smooth and the gilt dial is just fantastic.

Update :

On July 1 I tried a quick clean up using toothpaste and soft brush on the case. It can easily remove all the tarnishes and whiten the whole case back to almost as new.

Not really recommend this to everyone cause someone says the abrasive from toothpaste will ruin the case in the long run.

And now a week later, July 7. It seem the tarnishes still haven't come back yet.

Thanks for making this thread!
I wonder what would happen if you tried cleaning with a mixture of warm water and bicarbonate instead of toothpaste.
I’m assuming the bicarbonate in toothpaste is what helps remove the tarnish. Perhaps less abrasive to use just bicarbonate?
