Spot of advice on W&D rolex...

I've never really fancied the 1920's or 30's watches before, but I've had a 9ct gold smallish vintage offered up and I'm thinking about taking it on.

The case is stamped W&D (obviously Wilsdorf & Davies), but the chap says its from the late 1920's.

I was under the impression that W&D cases were the very early Rolex watches (1908-1919 ish), and rarely had Rolex on the dial, being imported case and movement with dials supplied/personalised by the jeweller.

If its legit when I see it, I'll have a punt and throw some photo's on here for your verdict. For the moment though, any info on W&D branded/stamped watches would be appreciated.
