Saving batteries??

Hello, I have a collection of around 10 watches, from quartz to automatics. I can pass 8 months without wearing a determined watch, my question is, can I pull the lug to save battery power? Or will this damage the watch (they are kept in a cleanambient)? Or will not save any energy?

Thanks!

From what I have seen, a lot of quartz watches sit in the display case with the crown pulled out, so that the battery does not drain. I have always assumed this is a safe way to store a quartz. As for the automatics I am not too sure, but I would guess that it would be OK to pull the crown instead of letting the spring unwind completely, as I have also seen many in the display case like this too.

I read that pulling the lug to save power was a fallacy? It hacked the watch but did not disconnect the battery.

Correct, it doesn't disconnect the battery but just the "transmission" if you will. Still, it should save the battery a bit as it's not driving the hands.
