Which Omegas do you forsee or currently do have collectible value?

Hi, being a new member here am still understanding brands and what ittakes to make a great watch company:). In the Omega lineup, which Omegas of past are good collectibles?..Also which ones do you see as collectibles in teh current lineup?

I would say the Speedmaster with the 321 produced between 67-69 would be very collectible.

Too many to mention really.

Of vintage, early Seamaster chronometers, Constellations, Railmaster, dive watches of the 60s and 70s (Ploprof, seamaster 300 etc), Memomatics, Ranchero, 321-based chronographs particularly Speedie but moreso early versions of the 321, original Marine collection, Centenary, Cosmic Moon Phase, military Omegas, First generation Geneve Dynamics, Seamaster VXIs, and now fist issue mechanical Manhattans, Louise Brandt first releases, Chronostop, wherever you want to start really.

Of the current batch, Planet Oceans (no matter the number produced as numbers have nothing necessarily to do with collectibility), some of the museum collection (particularly Racend Timer), some limited edition speepmasters and always the cal 1860/1 versions, first issue calibre 9300 chronographs, DeVille hour vision, the Ploprof rereleases, first issue of liquid metal, the Bond Blue Wave Dial Seam,aster (again numbers have nothing to do with it)....again there's plenty to choose from.

the 2254 is always in demand and value will increase. I would also throw in a vote for the X33 - at least for my GEEK/NASA peers. what it lacks in asthetics, it makes up for in watch nerd epicness

The 2594.52 or the 2594.50 as it is a classic looking chronograph with a column wheel mov't and a date at 6 o'clock.

IMO - none of the modern limited editions are all that collectable.
The Speedmaster especially... Too many and too often.

The 2011 Lunar Vehicle limited edition is the latest one and IMO the wording on the case back isn't correct as it wasn't the "moon watch" used due to it's new Co-axial movement.

The ATs are abit like the DJ... Too many of them produced/around.

Hour Vision. First of the new generation of movements. Relatively few made (a little too expensive new). Beautiful and with a unique case. In the short term, they can be picked up pretty cheaply second hand (every one wants big divers and pilots at the moment). Longterm, I think they have "classic" written all over them.

Maybe the Ploprof, too.

Many old ones, any vintage Omega Ploprof, baby Ploprof, SM300, or virtually any Omega diver from the 50s, 60s or 70s is collectible, then the Pie-Pans and in particular grand luxe models.

Cal 321 Speedmaster is a legend, all of them are worth money and in demand, same street cred as a vintage Daytona, but in a larger and more modern size.

A handful of LE speedmasters are worth money, but don't count on them. The Cal 2500 LM PO is collectible, and is still holding used value ABOVE its original MSRP, its on par with the Daytona at the moment in terms of value retention, and I see that only going up.

Also FlightMaster Cal 911s are doing well, and very unique.

I agree that aside from a few speedmaster that were given to astronauts and presidents, LM are many and too often. Also, any merchandise made for collecting are never as collectable or valuable as the original...........if that makes any sense.

This would be to answer as we will be predicting the future. But if I have to make a guess, any of the Bond and limited edition pieces like the Alaska Project.

Alaska Project is an interesting one. Gemini IV is also sort of in that category as they've both very unusual LE Speedmasters made in very small numbers.

The Omega Dynamic Chrono I just got seems to be gaining collectable interests .. Just 2 years ago you can buy them for around 600-800 and now they're consistently selling around for 1200

DSIO is correct...the Alaska Project is not like most LE offerings, and I am sure it will appreciate nicely. Some of the other LE are simply not attractive, and that will be devastating to collectors.

Of course the 321 Speedmasters will continue to gain in value, along with most other pre 1970 sport Omegas. I feel the straight lug Speedmasters will increase especially well due to high demand and low supply, compared to the very common 145.012 and 105.012.

The SMP is a nice watch too, very reliable and it takes a hell of beating
