I was 20 years old when I bought my first and only Rolex, a GMT Master #16750 in Lucerne Switzerland in July, 1984 for $650.00, BRAND NEW--1/2 the U.S. retail price at the time. All black bezel, with white gold surrounds on the luminous dial markers, and the Oyster bracelet. BTW, I still have the original papers, sales receipt, box, and all service receipts from its entire service history. Servicing only done by Rolex in Beverly Hills, CA.

Interesting that the vast majority are blokes under 35.

My family has a penchant for watches, I remember my grand father had a solid gold King Midas and a rose gold Daytona and my grandmother had a rose gold president studded with diamonds. I got my first Rolex when i was 10, it was a junior size date just, a gift from my grandparents, but that proved to be foolish gift to a young kid since I subsequently lost the watch while playing. My next Rolex was a Submariner which I bought when I turned 30. As luck would have it, it was stolen in a resort I was vacationing in. I currently own a white face Explorer II and a ceramic GMT Master. My wife uses an Explorer I. I am currently eyeing a Sea Dweller and a blue faced Oyster. Hopefully, I get to keep this set and give them to my sons when they turn 18.
