INSIDE the Rolex Submariner
just wanted to share these Rolex3135 movement pictures. That's what you'll find inside your Rolex submariner.
indestructible reliable built like a tank a watch which will survive you without problem. Ofcourse the level of finishing is far from a Patek Philippe but I guess that's not what Rolex wants to be. and that was the patient :-)

<<< Ofcourse the level of finishing is far from a Patek Philippe but I guess that's not what Rolex wants to be. >>>
Assuming this statement is correct, does the far higher level of finishing on a PP make it run more accurately, make it more durable, increase the life of the movement parts, decrease the need for periodic servicing, etc? I am curious if any or all are true, or if it simply adds substantially to the cost of a PP due to more time involved with hand finishing.

Great pics, but I've often wondered why Rolex don't use the Philips 4-head screws instead of the straight-slotted ones..............wouldn't be easier and quicker for the watchmaker to work on?

JJ, as an engineer it's harder, so more expensive, to make screws that small with a Phillips head as opposed to the slotted type.
So I guess that's why Rolex uses the slotted screws. Neil |
