Converting a 78790 link to a 78360 link??

Greetings,
My understanding is that both links are essentially the same except that the 78790 link has polished sides while the 78360 has brushed sides. Would using a Scotchbrite pad to the polished sides of the 78790 link easily turn it into a 78360 or am I way off here?

Great. Any recommendations on how best to use the Scotchbrite? I assume sand along the long axis of the side of the link?

^I'm not in favor of mutilating your watch or bracelet.

AFAIK the 78360 links have polished sides too. So are essentially identical to 78790.
93150/93250 links have brushed sides...

Hmmm... I don't think they are the same. Here is a pic side by side. The one on the top is from an S series 16700 w/ 78360 bracelet (ca. 1994); and the two on the bottom are from a T series 16570 w/ 78390 bracelet (ca. 1996).

Both have polished sides but the 78360 link has a noticeably "shorter" connecting hole. It is almost identical to the hole found on 93150 links (with brushed sides). The 78790 is the same size but with "longer" connecting hole.

Hope this helps!

.

Some times ago I published this chart showing links compatibility. 78360 and 78790 clearly use the same ref#.

It doesn't have a shorter connecting hole.

When it is not connected in the bracelet the center link will slide in and out - it just isn't out as far as the other in the photo.
