Daytona Ghost or Paul Newman on Oysterflex?

Hi everyone, considering trading up my Pepsi, Seadweller and Milgauss for one of the above Daytonas (previous model rather than 2023 release). Ghost looks understated, Paul Newman has a brilliant colour combination but perhaps draws too much attention? Welcome perspectives and pics from owners of either watch. Thanks in advance.

Ghost is awesome. Very classy. Newman is pretty, but too much YG for my taste. I just don't like the idea of your trade. Since you re asking... I'd save up and wait until I could buy outright. You'll regret and miss those 3 watches.

Appreciate the view. Feel like I want to consolidate down from three watches, perhaps adding a Date Sub to the Daytona. Have had the Pepsi for a while, depending on what a Rolex do at Watches and Wonders the model might get a bounce which would make the Daytona reachable I think.

Ghost for me. I would queue for new Ghost and then sell the Pepsi + Milgauss for it.

Daytona Ghost or Paul Newman on Oysterflex?

Good morning the Paul Newman is beautiful. It’s definitely an underrated piece, once you see it in person it’s hard to turn down.

Keep your PEPSI!!!!

Drop the MG and SD + $ if you really want to do the deal.

The WG is the best version on Oysterflex imo. I would also try and keep the Pepsi.

I have the ghost and absolutely love it. It can be used as a daily or a special occasion time piece. The PN is a bit flashy for my taste but it’s a beautiful watch. The ghost definitely makes an impression but still is subtle enough to wear on any occasion. It just depends on your style and if you like gold. If I were to ever buy a yellow gold watch, I think the PN is the best option since the oysterflex band tones down the look as compared to a gold watch on a bracelet.

Finally, the oysterflex band is special, it wears extremely comfortable yet has a very unique look. I initially thought it would be better with a casual outfit but now I wear it with a suit or business casual outfits and it works exceptionally well. Definitely gives a cool vibe and a fashion forward look.

So many great comments! I’m in two minds about selling the Pepsi but will probably do so if it gets a bounce next month after Basel. Will have to buy the Daytona OF on Grey market as I’ve no chance via ADs.

I own the ghost and it is one of my favorite Rolex watches. I am more of a classic look watch and this one fits the bill. It looks casual and many will never know it is WG. Never understood the PN love but we all have our likes and dislikes.

I don’t like black dial Daytonas on OF. Too much black overall.

The WG (Ghost) imo is by far the best of the OF Daytona offerings.
Closest to a modern day 6263 big red vibe.

I own both models and love them equally in different ways. I have the discontinued PN and love red hand and get so many compliments. The yellow gold is subtle enough but with a bit of flash that means business. I have the new ghost 126519LN and it’s some clean and modern looking. Much more subtle and not as noticeable to the novice eye. They are two of my favorite in my collection.

That was my experience as well and I totally agree the WG on OF dresses up surprisingly well.

I was between these two watches as well and so happy I went with the ghost. It’s a great daily and the white gold has a great feeling and very sharp finish that could also be worn dressed up

Love both for different reasons. For me, I chose RG with the Sundust dial. Just a tad of bling over the WG and more toned down than the YG. I just love it.

No matter which way to you go you can't go wrong. The Daytona with the ceramic bezel looks great on an OF.

I had the option to buy both and went with the Ghost, no regrets. Much more understated imo.

I like both of these but if it’s a long term purchase, I think the 116519LN/ WG will age significantly better. It’s just a classier combination of colours to my eye - I think you’re observing the same when you say the 116518LN/ YG may draw too much attention.

The Paul Newman has so much wow. The ghost is nice if you want to be under the radar/ hard to beat. If you want some pop the YG is the way to go. I would certainly pick the YG and wouldn’t think twice.
