As far as I can tell the date wheel is not original. Should be brushed silver.

Yeah, I was pondering about the date wheel as well.
Should the correct one be silver or white? And does the bezel insert look original? Or a service insert? |

Is it a good buy? Well, that depends on the price. The insert and date wheel do indeed look to be replacements, although sometimes it's hard to tell in photos whether the date wheel is white or silver. (Definitely looks white, though).
I'd be more concerned about the case, which has been polished a lot, especially the crown guards. That would bug me. The dial and hands look nice, with matching patina. Also, for me personally, I would never pay a premium for a so-called rail dial over a non-rail. I find that to be one of the most over-hyped details out there. If you're looking for a 1665 Great White, I'd just hunt for the best condition example you can find for your budget, regardless of which variation. Also, any service history? If the watch needs to be serviced, add about $600 for what it would take a good independent to do it, maybe more. |

Thanks for the advice.
Price of this piece is USD$16.5K. Seems high. Quote:

The price does seem high. I would expect only a little more for my full set with fat case, lugs etc. Dial is good though.

Dial and case look great. The rail dial is a rare variant and that's why it commands a premium.

Mine says hello I love it. Just sourced a correct insert should be along shortly. Nice shot next to a 16800.
