Navitimer 01 is gorgeous

Hey guys,

I know this is the Rolex forum so I tread lightly on this when I say that I've been a Rolex owner for quite some time over the years and have owned several models but i've been blown away on the craftsmanship from Bretling on the Navitimer 01.

I;ve also owned several models of Breitlings over the years including the 7750 based Navitimer back in the early 2000s.

Anyway, I decided to sell my Deep Sea and get the Navitimer 01 and I honestly have not looked back. I know they are totally different watches but the Rolex while exciting to own and know it's level of ingenuity...

The Breitling is so beautiful and a joy to read and stare at, etc. The chronos are like a tank with this new movt.

70+ hour power reserve...unheard of from Breitling previously or Rolex for that matter on most of their watches.

I got the 43mm model as the 46mm was too big. I loved the open back but it didn't look right to me at that size.

Anyway, if you haven't looked at this watch in-person...go check it out.

Question...antyone know if the gold wings on the dial is actually gold? It's an actual piece on the dial as opposed to printing...

Thanks and wrist shots can be posted if you guys care.

Pics? Congrats. I have the Airborne (01 movement). Beautiful watch and keeps perfect time. I too had the Dssd but sold it as the bulk was just too much

It's a beautiful watch that's for sure. (The 'wings' on this one are white gold).

Not a huge Breitling fan but the Navi is a beautiful piece, especially the 01. Congrats on the pickup and great idea going with the 43MM.

Yes it's one of the limited editions for the first 01 Navitimers. I'm sure that the yellow gold wings are real gold as well !

Saw an 01 in the wild the other day and thought it looked absolutely perfect.

I'm not so much a fan of the date position or having a date at all for that matter but either way it is a great looking watch

That is something I have never thought about before but you are right, it would probably look even better without the date.

To me the Navitimer is one of the all-time iconic chronograph designs. I loved having the 43mm 01 LE, but flipped it partly because of the poor WR rating, and partly because my perception that I needed to move "up" from Breitling. But after getting my AP and VC, I actually began to appreciate/miss the craftsmanship of the Breitling. I'm be adding an older Breitling back to the collection soon.

My favorite chrono. Size, date, aesthetics, history, etc.. Love the clear caseback of nav01 le as well. Have any of u guys noticed that winding isn't as easy/smooth as rolex though? Flipped a daytona and preferred navi over speedmaster.

Living hell to wind with my fingers. Fortunately, I keep mine on a winder and only wind it once a month or so.

Just in with NYC Boutique last week after buying my 01 a little over a month ago and rest assured WatchnRoll that the gold wing emblem is 24 caret gold !

Nice watches guys, I really like the Navitimer myself. To me it's a classic pilot's watch with a big historical value.

Here is an old one with a special touch on the dial.

Thank you Bas, it's not a 01 but it almost has the same layout. Besides, the newer version with the B02 is not too shabby either.

Truth be told, the Navitimer 01 is perhaps one of the few new watches I would like. I thought 43mm was enormous but I've tried it a few times and it's not nearly as bad and I find it very classy. Even the Blacksteel 46mm wears well.
