I never liked broad blanket statements like that. All cars are mechanical and vulnerable to failure, be it a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche etc. It all depends on the individual car, and that’s where you need to be vigilant during the research aspect of the purchase process. The more I looked, the more I found that, if the car was maintained well, it’s relatively reliable and the drivetrain deemed “bulletproof”. Certain issues plagued the 360, but were easily rectified, and usually improved upon. The link below is a good read and sums it up well. I looked around and talked to different owners and different technicians for about a year when it came the 360, and frequented the Ferrari Chat web site often, which is a great resource. Then when this particular Ferrari was offered, I went through it with a fine tooth comb, (without actually seeing it, haha), until I was satisfied. I had it brought to an authorized Ferrari dealer for an intensive PPI, (Pre Purchase Inspection), which it passed with flying colors, all the issued that needed to be addressed were, except for the front ball joints, but even they are still pretty good, and some leather shrinkage on the passenger airbag, common. But what I particularly liked about this car was twofold. Number one, it’s a 6 speed manual, I believe only 10% of 360 are manuals, and second, the color, Rosso Fiorano, which I was told less than 5% were this color. I guess it’s hard to get accurate Ferrari production numbers because I haven’t been able to. Now how many had those two combinations, a 6 speed manual in Rosso Fiorano, still is a mystery.

In the end, do all you can when getting into something like this, or anything as a matter of fact, even then there is no guarantee, but at least you know you did all you can. When it comes to this Ferrari, so far, so good, and I’m looking forward to tacking on the miles one at a time while clicking through the gears thought that heavy aluminum gate.

Well, after some extensive research, I found out that the polished stainless steel exhaust is from a company out of the U.K. called Topgear, and in this link from their website is a quick video where you can hear the exhaust note, pretty much exactly what mine sounds like, just slightly different due to me shifting manually as opposed to the car in the vid with paddle shifters:

FYI, Topgear is linked to another UK exhaust fabricator called Quicksilver. They make great exhausts.

I have the prototype S-Line exhaust on my 360 (also manual) and it sounds insane. If you upgrade to headers without the pre-cats the sound is even nicer. The last 5 valve per cylinder car Ferrari made and it sounds the business.

Beautiful automobile! I wouldn't even need a radio with all that wonderfully tuned horsepower. I love the color too.

I've heard horror stories with high end exotics, Lambos, Ferraris etc when it comes to service costs. Do you have yours done at a dealership or an independent specialist? I'm curious to hear about your experience. My C63 is a bargain to maintain but at some point, while my back is still reasonably okay, I'd like to own one of these Italian beauties.

Well, so far so good and all I've done are oil changes at $300.00 a pop through an independent, so no bad, and with the 360, it was the first modern model that the engine doesn't need to be out to be serviced, there is an access panel behind the seats:

And the other thing that helps is that there are companies out there that are said to have better than OEM parts at a lower price point:

http://www.ricambiamerica.com/360-30...rformance.html

But mine came with all of that stuff done already so maybe just belts in the next couple of years, (along with the oil):

http://www.ricambiamerica.com/184986-timing-belt.html

So like I said before, so far so good, there is a lot of info out there about these cars, and seems the majority of the issues were with the F1 tranny and convertible top, which don't apply to this car, so fingers crossed as I keep smiling and shifting through the gate

It really varies from model to model. You can do a lot of research and figure out rough estimates but sometimes, poop happens and you have to write a big check. I just did the 5 year service on my 360. It has 20k miles on it and some things needed replacing. It's by all accounts a very nice car that's been well maintained and is in superb condition. I still spent $15k on the service and all the updates to the worn parts.

I use an independent who is the best Ferrari tech in the US per Ferrari SpA's own testing. He used to work for the dealer for 30 years but he left in 2015 to open his own shop. He was the first certified Ferrari Master Tech in the US and is factory trained on everything up through the LaFerrari and his labor cost at his shop is 2/3 of what the dealer's was.

FWIW, the F430 costs me a little less over the five years and the F40 costs me about the same.

Thanks for your reply and thanks for all the links. It may come in handy one day when I venture into the real exotics.

Thanks. It's kind of a problem as I'm kind of a hoarder when it comes to Ferrari stuff. I thinned the herd this past year by selling three Ferraris that i'd owned for years. It was just not possible to drive them all enough and give them each enough attention. Three is much more manageable.

That access panel doesn't look too bad actually! Honestly I don't think I would be afraid to do a timing belt on one of those. The NSX needs to have the motor dropped about 6 inches to do a timing belt. Didn't tackle that one myself. OTD with rebuilt axles/belt/water pump/and master brake cylinder came to 4k of which was a fair deal. The power steering computer and probably rack needs to be rebuilt as well. For being the most reliable of the supercars, the NSX has not been so reliable. I've heard the 360 clutch is good for about 30k miles. Any truth to that?

Stunning ride you have there....Ferrari is by far and above my favorite Italian made vehicle......Is the exhaust stock? Tubi? Either way, it doesn't really matter, i'm sure it sounds killer.....And yes, that color is absolutely gorgeous my friend....congrats on owning such a beautiful car.....Maybe someday I'll get there....until then....The Ford Fusion will have to do haha

The hydraulic clutch in the F1 will last about that. The manual cars will have clutches last way longer if you drive properly. My 360 has 20k on it and the clutch still looks new when viewed through the inspection window. Maybe not the surest way to know but it feels fine, although I don't abuse my clutch (or car).

By contrast, my F430 coupe with 8k miles with the F1 has 17% wear on the clutch. I'll want to replace that when it gets to about 50%.

And for all of you DIY guys, the 360 is a perfect car. Still pretty analog for when it was released but well built enough to be enjoyable to work on.

I read online that guys have 50k on the original clutch and still has plenty life left... one guy wrote "Just had my annual service done. Clutch wear is at 22.7%. 2007 F430 F1 Spider.
21,356 miles and ALWAYS driven in race mode."

Been thinking about getting a 355 or a 360. Just started reading about them not really familiar with Ferrari yet. Always been a Corvette/Chevelle guy. Lots to learn.

I've been told avoid a 355 if you can at all reach a 360. I sort of went through this 355 phase a few years ago.
