Well, I just added the 5980 back again for the 3rd time. So that's my vote!

Hoping the 1.5 link will solve my previous issues

Previous 2 times you sold was because of bracelet sizing?

I also added the 1.5 link on my 5980 and it now fits like a dream!

wow back and forth on the results. Kind of like the election.. Only difference this time is both candidates are great choices.. in contrast the much lesser choice won.

To wear I like 5990. I like the symmetry and I like the dual time functionality. if I were putting away for investment (I am not), I think the 5980 has more upside potential.

SO the 5980-1r is back in my stable with the 1.5 link.

It's 100% a keeper.

I have lost considerable weight...so right now I do not need the 1.5 link in the winter, but I can tell you for sure that I will need it in the summer.

The watch fits great now and I am happy to have it back. I will be keeping it moving forward. No questions asked.

The price of the 1.5 link is absurd though IMO.

Perhaps that explains why you have lost considerable weight...

My friend and I got 5990 , we compare the dial from 2014 and 2016
My 2016 look darker than 2014 ,
Is that something wrong ?

The reason I picked the 5980 is because to me the 5990 is just a bitt off. The date wheel at 12 o'clock just bothers me.... I don't know any other piece that does it..then taking the hinge the of the case and making it into the pushers...though genius is just not right in my eyes....then again if a 5990/1R comes watch me change my mind and choose that over the 5980/1R hahaha.

Yep - has to be the black dial, otherwise 5990...unless there is a 5990 with blue dial this year, then that would be my first choice!

Thanks for the discussion folks, this prompted me to order a 5990 from my AD. Estimated wait 6 to 9 months - ugh.

I'll admit that right now because I want a white dial, I'm thinking about selling my 5990 and picking up a white dial 5980. However, if they made a white dial 5990, I'd do that.

chronograph only as a complication is meaningless. Who uses chronos ? but the dual time that 5990 is really useful so my vote goes to 5990

5990 on the left and 5980 on the right
me: Like both but own and still would select the 5990.

wish the time could go back, I've had a chance to purchase one from local AD, which is an new old stock; however, it had many scratches and one deep scratch from the mishandling the the staffs at the store. if i remember correctly that I got an offer for 38.5K about two years ago for 5980.

Well in an update, sold the 5990, picked up...

However, I would still choose the 5990 over the black or blue dial 5980 FWIW.
