Hear many suggestions, looks like 5270R and G with blue dial are more welcome for most forum friends for the current model available.
PP always play games, who knows there is a P version or other LE version coming in the near future. |

I actually prefer the 5270 (newest version).
I have the RG and love it but am drawn the to the blue dial...I just can't read it so it's a no go for me...until the platinum comes out and i'm getting it whether I can read it or not! |

Both the 5970 and 5270 are nice.
The 5970 is discontinued and so you would need to search for one on the secondary market. Prices vary considerably based on condition. The 5270 should be available at ADs and the Patek in-house movement is superb. Some people argue that Patek produced too many 5270s, leading to a supply surplus. It is a personal choice. But if you like your name on the Certificate and plan to keep the watch long-term, I would suggest the 5270. |

How do you think about 5270 and 5961P? Which watch is a better choice? |

5270G-019 (blue dial) 5270G-018 (silver dial) 5270R-001 (silver dial) The blue dial watches have been popular over the past 10 years. However in my opinion, the silver dial is still the most classic. As for deciding between WG vs RG, it is a personal preference, although I prefer the WG. Between the 5270 and the 5961P, I would say the 5270 is more of a classic perpetual calendar chronograph. It will have its rightful place following in the footsteps of the 1518, 2499, 3970 and 5970. The 5961P is a niche market watch because of the diamond baguettes. It will be a good watch to add for a collector as yourself who owns many rare watches. However if you can get an allocation of the 5271P, I would recommend that watch over the 5961P. Going back to the 5270, if you can see the different metals and dials in person, it will be helpful in your decision. |

I prefer auto winding, but most chronograph are manual winding. 5961P has auto winding funfion. I like 5270 the newest version layout a lot. |

Here are some photos of watches I tried on during my Geneva factory tour a few months ago. The first three are the 5270 and the fourth is the 5271P. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the 5961P. Automatic wind watches are nice, but it makes the 5961P thicker than the manual wind 5270/5271. I hope these photos are helpful in your decision. Knowing your watch collection, I would suggest inquiring if you can get the 5271P. It is more exclusive than the current 5270 series and probably a better long-term watch than the 5961P. Historically Patek has always made manual wind chronograph watches. Their automatic chrono movement is fairly new and it was first seen on the 5960 ~10 years ago. They currently have the automatic movement in the 5905P and the 5961P. The 175th Anniversary watch 5975 also had the automatic chrono movement. |

Totally biased, but for me it's the 5970. They just got it right with this one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

AFAIK, Patek has only produced the black dial 5271P. I have not seen the 5971P in person, but they were also produced in small numbers. The 5971 came with a buckle, whereas the 5271 comes with a deployant clasp with diamond encrusted on the Patek logo of the clasp. |

Two very different watches. For me, the 5970. A completely personal choice, so please try them both on!

What an excellent photo of the 5970
It's a photo like this, that makes me revise that opinion. Congratulations, Paul

5970 is a very nice watch. I prefer to have my own name on the paper. 5270 or 5271 will be my only choice, but I still can't decide which model to go for it without viewing the real watches. |

I'd have to see the p in person, but from the picture you posted, the gems seem to clash with the dial. I see DeNiro approves, but it seems more Meet the Fockers or Last Vegas than Taxi Driver or Raging Bull.
