“T Swiss T” on Submariner

Hi,

I picked up a job lot of watches at auction, which included a Submariner.

Only thing is, it has “T Swiss T” at the bottom of the dial. I’ve never seen this on a Sub before, and thought it was reserved for dress watches.

Can anyone help or confirm?

Cheers

All watches from a certain time period with tritium dials were marked that way.

Pics. Aftermarket dial at best would be my first guess. It might be worth including the rest of your haul so folk can opine on what you got.

I don't think submariners came with T Swiss T

Swiss law stated that watches in the 60s had to state that a watch contained tritium.

For cronographs and "classic watches" ( such as date-daydate .... ) with small indexes , the use of tritium in the luminous paste was shown just by the words " T SWISS T

In professional watches with a big amount of tritium ( submariners.... ) , the rule requested also to show the maximum amount of radiation per gram of tritium inside the luminous paste ...so that these dials had the " SWISS T < 25 " expression.

T.Swiss.T for less than 277 MBq (7.5mCi) and Swiss <T25 for less than 925 MBq (25mCi)on there dials depending on how much radioactivity they had this was from 1960 till around 1998

Thanks everyone.

Is the consensus that the dial is fake or after market then? Presume this means the whole watch could be.

It’s the only thing that I question about it - everything else seems legit.

I am new to the forum, can can’t post a link to a pic (yet) and all the ones from my phone camera are too big to upload!

Weird. This is the second time this has come up for a Sub in the past weeks.

Dial is not genuine at best.

So Subs don't have the T Swiss T on them typically, even if they're vintage? Mine has it, but I have a DJ from 1972.

I don’t believe Subs in particular ever did. Other models may have, but I don’t believe there was ever a T Swiss T dialed Sub.

Thanks rootbeer - this isn’t a gold one, but I suppose it could have had a service dial fitted or something right?

If you’re able to post an image it would help. If you have trouble feel free to message me on Instagram and I’ll post here.

Thanks. This is (apparently) a standard Sub though. Rootbeer has seen a pic and said it’s fake. Once I am allowed to post, I will share a pic.

Disregard about the sertis. It seems they absolutely should have the 25. My mistake.
