Ive been eyeing this for a while. I even sold my 228235 anticipating on picking this one up. But every time I see it listed the price keeps going up and up and just saw it listed for 43k from one of the most reputable greys. So I’m out for now until it comes down to earth.

I saw that price from TS too, it seems ridiculous, may be they know something that we don't know. Last month the price was around $34K and now $43.

I can’t believe the prices of day dates. I should’ve pulled the trigger on a new one 4 years ago with a discount available, now the retail in AUS is up close to 30% what they were back in 2016 with no discount :(

I think it’s just supply and demand. There isn’t much on the grey market on top of the fact that a lot of ADs are not operating so they are taking advantage of the situation.

Even the YG green dial daytona is going for crazy premium. But that’s a hype created by YouTubers particularly after John Mayer made it famous. But for a DD40 its very surprising!

I had the choice of green or blue dial in WG and I picked the blue dial. I was not sure if green will be something I will be excited about in the long run.

The green dial on WG DD40 does look amazing.

When the olive dial Everose first introduced I saw one offered in the high $27's and I didn't buy it. Would of, could of, should of! Then the price kept increasing from there. MSRP is $39250. It's really nice watch. I do own one, but I often think I might sell it because I actually don't wear it often.

I have a follow up question to the above.. DD 40s have indeed gone up a lot in the last 7 months and being a constant lookie loo in the classifieds here, I have seen the same incremental raises each month or so, from all trusted sellers here at pretty much the same time.

Hey I am all aboard them getting whatever they can, but my question is, do they get together and discuss the raises prior?

They follow each other with pricing that's for sure. When you see DavidSW list the RG DD40s for above msrp the rest follows. Not only that the B2B market is the biggest market actually so you could say the entire gray dealer market have direct influence on each others pricing.

Its probably got a bit to do with the devaluation of the USD as well as its lost some ground against major currencies but definitely not enough to justify the prices prices. We complain about the SS price rises but when you see a $10k+ price increase from when I bought my DD40s on an already expensive piece it just makes it that much more expensive.

I cant fathom paying the current prices for one these days.

If a stainless Daytona is worth 30K$+, a Day Date 40 certainly seems worth $40K+.

Surprisingly, I was thinking about trading couple of my watches and asked top two TS here mentioned frequently and both quoted the same exact price.

I have a feeling that there is a wholesale pre-owned watch business and these TS check against that to give you the trade-in/resale value.

The two Rolex watches I was looking to trade were not the hot models and the trade-in quote was quite reasonable.

I ended up with the DD40 in chocolate Romans, but I'm going to have to say - the prices today are absurd across the board.

Supply and demand...vicious.

Fortunately i have the 116618LB to satisfy the PM urge until the pricing starts to come back. The Daytona is strictly hype, the DD40 is def a supply issue.

Dont know about that. If you look on Instagram and Social media looks like the DD40 is so hot right now. Everyone is rocking one. Hype is real.

In fact it looks to me that gold in general is hot right now. I guess gold prices rising about $2000 per ounce ain't helping with its popularity.

Crazy times when we see DD40s at full MSRP or higher. Its going to keep going all the dealers are hoarding them now too.
