After all the 116500 hoopla, I wonder how Padi would react to everyone freaking out over this one...not even an updated press on sliver of ceramic but red letters...
Have to admit I do like it though I'd prefer the Sea Dweller with some red in there |

I say buy it now. Even IF they release something new in March it may be another 8 months before you ever have one on the wrist.

My first post here :)
Just bought a 114060 Sub and I'd recommend it for the OP. Surely the 114060 and 116610 will remain in production for many years to come, so no need to panic. The first change I see for the Subs is updating the movement to the new 70h power reserve models, like the DD40 and DJ41. This could happen in a few years time, although they could update the case design too. But overall I think, why would they bother changing the sub so soon? Slow and gradual progress is part of the staying power of the brand which makes it desirable and timeless. Here's mine: Last edited by Lemieux66; 23 October 2016 at 09:29 PM.. Reason: Adding pic |

Do any of the modern Rolex's have lug holes these days? If not, I can't see them going back to that. I also think they removed the lug holes in order to limit or make harder for owners/users to swap out their bracelets. |

I have to say that I'm enjoying this speculation about Rolex slimming down the maxi case and lug sizes for future iterations of the sub. I know it's all fantasy at this point but, for me, the move to the maxi case destroyed the classic look of the Submariner and replaced it with something rather ungainly. |

Perhaps a new color for the dial, bezel or combination of both but doubtful.

Only thing I was wondering about is the submariner movement being upgraded at some stage - the 2016 explorer 1 and 39mm OP both have 3132 movement with the paraflex shock absorbers which the sub lacks. I had the option of a new no date SubC or the new Explorer 1 and one of the factors for why I went for the latter as due to wanting to more shock resistance as an everyday watch

Every Sub that comes out of Geneva gets sold. Australia and the UK have waiting lists for folks who want to buy SS Subs. Why would Rolex change anything? Go buy one now and enjoy!! |

If the only tangible difference is the shock protection mechanism, then I honestly don't think there would be any practical difference between a Paraflex or Kif shock protection system. There's practically nothing lacking with either of them. The only apparent advantage with the Paraflex system is to Rolex themselves in that they can claim it to be in-house and all their own. Millions of Rolex movements have been made with the Kif system and there's never ever, been a documented problem attributed to it or associated with it. Just get what you like and enjoy it to the full. If there's a change to the aesthetics of the watch along with a new movement and you don't like it, then you will have a choice for a little while in the transition phase when purchasing new. Either way it goes you have time on your side to choose. |
