AP ROC Fake?

Hi all I am new to the forum and pretty new to the high end watch game...

A person ive been in contact with is trying to sell me this watch for $5k saying the price is so low because of the blemish on the top edge...

When I look at others they have different numbers on the 3 faces and the date mechanism seems to be too close to the edge

He has no box or papers which is suspect can anyone tell by the pictures?

Thanks

Sub Dials and Date are giveaways.

Get a back shot and we'd tell you in 2 seconds.

No box, no papers, $5k.

Run.

Bad tapestry pattern, subdials (different movement all together!), font is off on the numbers, hands are off, ... wan't me to go on?

But scary good replica, could probably fool a lot of people.

band seems real huh...?

so, why would you cover the serial number --- what't the rationale with a fake watch?

go try somewhere else.

I'f you want to make believe it is real because he is your friend, then do so. But I would not spend 5K on a fake just to maintain a friendship.

Or maybe OP has already bought the watch and is trying to justify it. Please let us know the status.

Let me correct you there - a fake whether good or not is never worth anything. Except perhaps in certain circles of losers who collect junk and try to pass it off as real.

$3-400 Chinese fake. There are some incredibly good AP Royal Oak fakes being made, scary good in fact.

The easiest way to tell a fake AP Royal Oak however is the dial; a real Royal Oak guilloche dial will have about 8-10 lines per square box and the fakes will have around 5.

Look at this one and then go on Chrono24 or something and look at a pic of a real one and you will see what I mean.

Man you guys are good, I didn't realize it was a fake until I saw the clasp font photos and compared to my 15400 clasp. That and the dial font looks alittle light. On the gen, the Audemars Piguet font below the AP logo is very pronounced and bold white. On that POS fake, it's barely visible. Also the lume on the 2, 3, 5, 10 hour markers are not evenly distributed, there's extra lume paint on the end points.

And of course the sub dials are nonsensical!
