So I am wearing my DSSD at the craps table at the Mirage.....
And I am the roller. A guy from across the table notices my watch and yells nice watch! I say thank you and 2 of his friends start playing next to him. They both have credit lines and draw 100Gs a piece. As you know this really slows the game down. Mind you it's only a little after noon time so no big deal. Well these guys start throwing $15,000 bets around and I am playing on a $10 table with a $5k limit. By the way there are a lot less craps tables around now. So I get hot and I have been rolling for about a half hour. I start to notice that one of them is a little tipsy and he's throwing these huge bets around and the table guys keep having to give him his money back because of the $5k limit. I am hot the point is 10 and that guy walks over to me and says "you roll a 10 and I'll give you $2,000". Of course I don't believe him and I tell him I am going to hold you to it. He wakes over to me and gives me 2- $1,000 chips. His friend yells at him and looks at me. I tell his friend it's here if I don't roll a 10 I'll give it back. Now the table is full and the crowd is 3 deep. A real story that only happens in the movies. Everyone is really into it yelling and screaming. It's a real craps game. Three rolls later I hit the 10 and everyone is going nuts! Fist pumping and hugs! Everyone on the table made Big money! I rolled for another 15 or 20 minutes and my new friend came over and hugged me 3 times. I now notice he is really a lot drunker than I thought he was. After I crapped out everyone cashed in. I walked over to my new friends, friend and I told him- I know your friend is a little tipsy if he wants his money back I'll be happy to give it back. I don't want to take advantage of someone who is drunk. He tells me the guy meant it and not to worry about it. He showed me his watch and it was the gold GMT. He told me nice roll and nice watch!
Sorry for the long post! |

I had almost that same experience at The Desert Inn back in the 80s... Sunny's Halo won the Ky Derby that year... My friend and I held the dice for almost an hour... It was magical and I never forgot it.. Thanks Nelson, you got me back to a nice place in my life... Great story

That was a nice tip to throw a 10. The most that I have made from another gambler was $500 for throwing a hard 8 in Vegas. I love that game.

Now that is my kind of table. Congrats, I hope you made some money (beside the 2Gs) since others made some nice cash from the sound of it.

Ah, so had a little sumpin-sumpin riding on it, huh?
I'm not big on the prop bets, but when the dice get going and I'm really after a point I'll put a bit on the hard way just to coax the point to come up any ol' way. Particularly like on a 10 when I have a pile behind the line at 2 to 1.

Absolutely. I walked through a few casinos in Macau and everyone has their head down there no heeing and hawing. It's all business there when it comes to gambling.
