Getting operational

I have just (today) acquired a very nice D Series 14060M.
As the Manual does not explain things, I have done some searches but cannot find anything that explains how to get started.
1. I want to set the time.
I understand that to set the time I need to "unscrew the crown" - so my first question is how do I unscrew the crown.
(in the absence of any advice in the Manual I would assume that one should turn the winder in a counterclockwise direction, but I have learned to NEVER assume things if reliable advice is available)

2. wind it manually IF that is what is recommended.
The Manual says "hand winding" can be done once the crown is unscrewed but does not indicate when "hand winding" is appropriate.

1. Unscrew the crown by turning counter-clockwise. When it is fully unscrewed, you will feel a little pop.

2. Now wind the crown clockwise ( turning the crown upward toward the 12) a full 40 revolutions or so. You will notice the second hand start to move after about 5 revolutions or so.

3. Wait until the second hand hits the 12 and quickly pull the crown all the way out. You will see that the second hand will stop. Turn the crown clockwise to set the time. You will see that the hour and minute hands will move clockwise. Set the hour hand to the correct hour and the minute hand to the nearest five minute marker. Find an accurate time source (time.gov) or your cell phone and push the crown in when the time on your time source equals the time set on your watch. Push the crown in then don't forget to screw the crown all the way down. You do this by gently pushing the crown in while turning it clockwise.

4. Enjoy your new watch.

Thank you Sir, much appreciated.
Now done, and worked exactly as your precise instructions said.
It will be worn daily so I do not expect to have to do this again.
Regards, Rock.
P.S. I will take some decent photos to post as is TRF tradition with a new acquisition.

Thanks Guys, always a pleasure to associate with other aficionados.
Tardis - an interesting avatar, and you are a Cane Toad too. My son & I are also Dr Who devotees. Cheers, Rock.
