Anyone Own Breitling Bentley?
What is the quality of a Breitling? I am contemplating a Breitling for Bentley GMT Chronograph Special Edition. Are they tough? Do they scratch easily? Good lume? Thanks

OP, you may have better luck in the Breitling subforum.

I own Rolex; I wanted feedback from a current Rolex owner relative to the Breitling compared to their Rolex...

Love my Bentley 30sec chrono! Started with brown croc tangle it's a heavy watch and hard on the strap however Breitling beefs up their straps. The SS speed is a bold way to really show off its potential and holds up well to daily use. Recently picked up a Pam 88 and it's strap changes has me playing with different straps for the Bentley. Overall it's one of my fav's in the collection. Hope you enjoy it as I do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I've owned a few Breitlings over the years. Never had any issues. Nice watch. Many don't have an in house movement. They are a little more blingy than other watches and the resale value is terrible. I believe the first in house movement was the B01 a few years ago.

Breitling in general is a very fine watch.

No I don't think the fit and finish is quite as good as Rolex. IMHO I also think Omega has eclipsed Breitling in fit and finish. I'm sure some here will disagree with me. I would also reach out on the Breitling forum here.

My Breitling Bentley was my 2nd "grown up" watch after my Tag. When I purchased it I chose it over the GMT which I ended up buying earlier this year. The Breitling was my daily watch for nearly 8 years and I've only worn it once since I got my GMT in April. To me, it was a much more beautiful watch than the GMT. The GMT is a beauty too but something about the Bentley spoke to me. I loved the size and heft (it's almost the same size as the DSSD). The thick bracelet is awesome. Occasionally I would switch it out with an alligator strap and it looked amazing. I do t know of another Breitling owner who has had a problem with theirs. Mine, however was a troubled watch (turns out it might have been my fault). 2 years and 1 day after I purchased it, -the day after the warranty expired- I noticed it was picking you 3-6 minutes a day. I sent it in and Breitling honored the warranty. They did a full service and polishing and it worked great for another 2 years. Then, 2 years later, it started speeding up again. That time I paid $350 for a service but it worked fine for 2 more years (notice a pattern yet) Then after 6 years (2 years after that) it completely stopped working while I was wearing it. The power reserve was completely gone. I sent it back through Tourneu in Atlanta who had to send back to Breitling 5 times to get it running to specs again. In all it was gone for 6 months. Breitling was completely non-responsive. Honestly I felt like they should have just replaced the watch, or at least to movement at that point, but since no one from Breitling would respond to me I could tell it wasn't going to happen. Eventually they got it back and running and I wore it daily until I purchased my GMT. How might it have been my fault? At night I would sit it on the dresser underneath my tv. I would watch tv until I fell asleep and then turn it off. The nightly magnetic pulse may have been enough to throw it out of whack after ever night for 2 years. Maybe not though. In summary, I still think it's a beautiful, versatile watch. Generally they're reliable. They do not hold their value even remotely close to what a Rolex does. I hope this helps! |

The GMT Chrono is an in house movement so if you buy new, you'll get the 5 year warranty assuming you have it pressure tested at year 2. There are good deals out there on this watch, check with the AD that I sent you and they should be able to take care of you.

Like any other well made Swiss watch, they'll last generations. Once you take care of it the way you would your Rolex or anything else it should be much different. Great watches over all and you wouldn't regret it.
