Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Their vocals are unrivaled... best harmony band ever? 4 Way Street is one of my favorites.. all are still with us, thankfully.

I couldn't agree more. I've seen Neil Young with the Blue Notes and solo. He's incredible.

They are still with us, but Crosby, Stills, Young, and/or Nash have had a huge falling out over something David Crosby said.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...rosby-20160308

Which is sad because Nash and Crosby had appeared with David Gilmour and had done some good stuff.

As good as it was for all those years, it's over. I'm surprised it lasted this long. Super musicians with super egos.

Think I'll go listen to 4 Way Street.

Said (or did) is a classic Crosby trademark. Both David Crosby and Neil Young are creative as well as disruptive forces. At the Monterey Pop Festival (1967) Crosby appeared onstage with the Buffalo Springfield which really pissed-off Roger McGuinn. At the time, Neil Young had left the Springfield only to return later for a brief spell.

For those who have a copy of The Notorious Byrd Brothers album, Crosby is missing on the cover (replaced by a horse) after in-fighting over song selections for the album. McGuinn rejected 'Triad' as a lousy song and Crosby was incensed that two Carole King/Gerry Goffin songs (Wasn't Born to Follow and Goin' Back were chosen instead). So the Byrds fired Crosby and he bought a sailboat and explored new creative opportunities.

Call it personality quirks or 'artistic license' but in any (and either event), both Crosby and Young can be troublesome to deal with when it comes to making music. Perhaps they are best-suited as solo artists although the 'vintage' CSNY days (1969-71) were magical.

I really don't see this being any more different than it would be for anybody else. Although they may have bigger egos than most, staying together this long can be rather difficult for anyone. Divorces occur all the time for some of the very same reasons.

Often it takes a bit of work to get along with others. Sometimes it takes more work than what some are willing to do and somtimes it's percieved to be more than what it should be.

Always liked them, but the best, not so sure. The Beatles had so much going on with their music it tends to get overlooked that harmony was a cornerstone of their sound and they were very, very good at it.

^^^^Bingo (and towards the end, the Beatles had creative/artistic differences as well).

Agreed they were very very good. Extremely happy I got to finally see them a few years back.

Still, The Beatles are my favorite for many reasons.

And it would be a shame to leave The Beach Boys out of the conversation completely.

Lucky to have seen both CSN and the Eagles. Slight edge to CSN for their harmonies IMO but both amazing.
