At last! - another member of the AKD club!
Shows what fine taste in watches you have (he says un-biased)
Hard to find a nice AKD now - good Job John.

Hi John - Great Choice !!!
You know, I was talking to my AD today about Breitling - his words were 'Breitlings are good - but if you want a watch with residual value - its got to be Rolex'

Enjoy wearing it

The pics are great and the watch is fantastic! Air King Dates aren't easy to find, and yours looks to be in great condition. Congratulations!

Restoration

Thank you all for your positive comments on my new watch.

It is not in perfect condition, though.
The hands will need replacing/refinishing as they have some bubbling on them.
Also, at some point, there have been a couple of small blobs of something silver on the dial (paint or solder???).
How should I go about restoring it to perfection?
Should I replace or replate the hands and will it be OK for a watch restorer to clean up the dial?

Kindest regards,
John.

I bought my first Rolex a few weeks ago - an Air King Date ref 5700 - because I liked classic look of it and I love wearing it. So understated! I gather from the posts that they may be rare? Does anyone know how many were made?
