Need some help please
Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum here. Anyway, I joined because I have seen a 2009 Rolex Datejust II as new for sale that I'm interested in. I'll post the specification and a picture below. I have a couple questions: the face is a mother of pearl (aftermarket), should I be concerned about this? Secondly being a 2009 watch with an aftermarket face there's no warranty. The seller is a jeweller and offers 1 year warranty from purchase but this warranty is offered by the jeweller not Rolex. Should I be concerned about this? What would you guys value this watch at? I just want to ensure I'm not paying over the odds. Also if there's anything else I should look out for before buying, please send tips my way. Thank you in advance. Spec: 2009 Rolex DateJust II, White Gold Fluted Bezel, Mother Of Pearl Dial, Box & Papers Movement: Automatic Bracelet: Oyster Case: 41mm Bezel: White Gold Fluted Dial: Diamond Dot Mother Of Pearl Year: 2009 V Serial |

Personally, I wouldn't buy a piece with an aftermarket dial at any price. You'd be better off checking out the sales forum here and/or messaging a trusted seller to source exactly what you want....you'll likely be able to get a piece that meets your liking, has an original dial, and is still under warranty.

An aftermarket dial with Rolex on it is a fake dial.

Just make sure to get the original dial.
About the warranty so can I not tell you what you will get from the store. It's not very many Rolex that you need to send in under the warranty time IMO, so I think the warranty on a rolex watch is overvalued.

As I tell my dogs "leave it". At least you found out it was aftermarket.
Get a real one. |

The aftermarket dial does diminish some value. Many are just repainted original Rolex dials. It wouldn't bother me at all if the price was right and you like the dial? I would suggest buying about $1000-1200 under market from an all original piece.
Being so new, I doubt that I would personally be concerned about the warranty. I bought my 16610 new in 2000 and it still runs perfectly with no service. Good Luck GH

The "Datejust" looks like it was hand written.
Pass!

Don't you know handmade watches have a better value.

To be clear, that is a counterfeit dial.
They have expropriated the trademark and logo to make it look "original".

I would look for a trusted seller with a rhodium diamond dial DJ II in the for sale section here.

I agree with the posts above. I would never buy a Rolex with anything but an original dial. Personally I would buy from a trusted seller here on TRF. While selling this watch down the road may not be on your mind there very well could come a time where you would want to sell this watch. If that day ever comes I believe you would take a big hit.
