The darkside is calling, but...

Alright guys, I really want a Pam 25. There isn't an AD within 200 miles of my home, so I need some feedback. I've never seen a Panerai in the flesh or tried one on, so I'm a little worried about the size. Take a look at these pics, and tell me if you think I can pull it off. The pics are of a JLC, which is 42mm and the 25 isn't much bigger. Thanks

I've tried that one on and find it wears larger than my 190 (45mm Radiomir).

My wrist is 6.5" and I can easily wear a 44mm Luminor (like your 25).

Mfer our wrists are about the same size, and the 44mm looks great on you. I appreciate your response and pics. Do the lugs on the 25 turn down some and hug the wrist like the watch in your pics?

the 25 is a really nice one. good thinking.

i would add that while it's the same size & design case as mik's 111 (including lugs), it will probably "wear" a little larger, due to the bezel & "chunkier" look....but, the dial is smaller, so, that might balance the bezel a bit, i suppose.

Hey thanks Cru! I'm buying this watch without ever trying it on, so your feedback is appreciated. I do like a nice chunky watch, so it sounds like it's going to be fine.

Hope this answers your question. Picture quality sucks, but shows what you are looking for I think.

Have you tried on any of these before? I know it is far away, but it might be worth a trip to try on several different cases. (sub, lum, rad). Once you know how those fit, you can research and pick your favorite dial. I don't know how much research you have done, but I started out thinking only Luminors, but now Radiomirs are my favorite and Subs are my least favorite. The bezel on the subs make them "appear" smaller as the dial is smaller. The Rad's look the biggest due to slim bezel, but wear the smallest. I'm not trying to talk you out of 25, just want you to be happy with what you get. It would suck rocks to get a brand new 25, slap it on and be disappointed. Watches are like that. You never know until you try them on. Good luck.

mfer, those pics were exactly what I was looking for. I have a small wrist, but it's flat. Watches with down turned lugs seem to fit me well even if they are large. I wish I could try on some different models, but it's just to much time and distance for me to get to an AD. I'm going on pics and opinions from you guys, lol. I'm a dive watch guy, so the 25 is beautiful in my eyes.

You'll be fine then. I can pull off a 47mm Radiomir as my wrist is flat as well.

Great looking watch! Panerai has intrigued me for some time now, the design and shape is so cool. To be honest, some of the negative comments I've read about the brand has turned me away for awhile. It seems like there is no middle ground with these watches, either loved or hated. It took me awhile to come around, and now I can't stop thinking about how bad I want one.

I just sold my Pam 25. I have two panerai and two rolexes. The problem with the rotating bezels on the panerai submersibles is this - they suck. Apparently there is plastic beneath the bezel that wears out very quickly allowing the bezel to rotate far to easily. Unlike the old Rolex ss sub, you can't just pop the bezel off and fix it yourself. The part is not available so it requires a richemont service - which also sucks. High $ and poor customer service, even according to paneristi. And then after having it fixed what do you have? A bezel that will turn crappy again soon. I love panerai, but I'm trying to stay away for their submersibles now. You should research submersible bezels before you buy one.

I also live far away from any panerai dealer, so I bought one before I ever actually saw one in person. I would recommend a base model first, like a 112 or 210 to try out. They hold value very well. If you do it right you can buy one from a respected forum member and resell it easily for virtually no loss.

Thanks David, I've read that the bezel can have problems after awhile also. I thought I read that this problem had been fixed on the newer models, but could be wrong. I do intend on buying from one of the respected sellers here, and if the watch doesn't work for me I can always sell it and try another model. Thanks for the feedback my friend.

I think the size looks just fine, being rubber band and diver's watch, there is no need to wear in super size, it looks just fine on your wrist in my opinion.

Man I love that JLC Navy Seals Auto. I was about to get one but went for a Ceramic Sub instead. Now, I'm not so sure.

That along with the PAM 25 would be a great pair of watches.
