Indeed, I was very sad to hear this.

By the way the place I heard it from also quoted Wilt Chamberlain as saying Meadowlark Lemon was the most talented basketball player he had ever seen.

I saw the HG's in a high school gym back in 1970's. I still remember Meadowlark and Curly Neal vividly. Those Washington Generals never got a break!

I got to see him in the mid 70's. I was 8 I think. My father was thrilled to see him because he had seen him play in the early 60's. Thanks for sharing.

He was an amazing athlete and comedian. I too loved watching him as a kid. God bless him, RIP.

Same here.....my parents took me to see the HGT's on several occasions when they used to come over to the UK on their tours and play at the Empire Pool Wembley back in the early 70's.
