I enjoy the hunt, and consider the watches my trophies.

OK, maybe I am a vintage watch snob.
Or, maybe I have Asperger's. (I have been accused of that before.)
But, I do not understand how going to an AD or buying a watch on line is a "chase".

It seems more like going on safari at the zoo, than a hunt to me.

To me going on the hunt, means going to pawn shops, antique stores, antique shows, flea markets and auctions 50 weekends out of the year, and a few weekdays as well.

To me, it means getting up at 4:00am, traveling 300 miles, maybe you will find something great today, maybe you will come home with nothing.

To me, it means taking a chance on a watch you are not familiar with. You have to be able to pull the trigger immediately. Because if it is a good deal, it will not be there when you come back. And the seller is not going to be to impressed if you are sitting there on your smart phone, checking what it sells for on ebay.
It is having to do your research on all watches. Not just the one that you are looking for.

My definition of the "hunt" pretty much resembles that of a real hunt, the more often you go, the more likely you are going to get something. Sometimes you have to wake up early and travel, or camp out. And sometimes the bird or the deer just don't cooperate.

But let me tell you, I cannot purchase the rush of buying a Daytona for $300 at the AD.
(And yes, it is real)

Ownership. Unless it's a rare piece (like a perfect 1680 for me) there is no thrill in chasing a mass produced watch like Rolex. There are a dozen AD's within a short drive and between them, I can find just about any model I want... not much of a chase if you ask me.
