I have succeeded!

This will be a somewhat pointless post, but I felt this was the venue to share my elation from today.

I am an obsessive watch person. I love learning and diving into brands, references, details etc. and learning all I can just because it's fun to do. I get mocked by my family plenty as it is an all-consuming hobby.

My older brother, who I share not very many interests with has always been the opposite - an "anti-watch" guy. Works in finance and has always said "I will never be a watch guy or compete with the other dudes and their ever growing watch prices"

But for Christmas I helped his wife pick him out a nice mid-level "starter watch" (Nice TAG, Cartier, lower-tier Rollie etc. level) and he didn't love it but loved the idea. So now a week later, we go to the AD by his office together and he is HOOKED! We're talking references and he's asking about watches that I love and he never recognized before. Santos, Nautilus, Reverso, Newman Daytona and is even dropping terminology.

I just have to say that this is such an infectious and delightful hobby and I am so glad I have been able to pass it on to someone I am close with and know I will be able to enjoy this with for a long time.

Thanks for reading, wanted to share my good day's news with some like-minded watch-nuts like yourselves!

Happy New Year and Happy Hunting!

Not to flame you, but the term "Rollie" is not well-liked around these parts.

It's like everything else here. Some people like it, some hate it, and some are like me and just don't care either way. Absolutely 100% not worth getting bent out of shape about it.

Spot on, Chad. And to Hoyas490, well done on enabling your brother. Always good to have another WIS in the family.

I love this. I just recently "talked" my brother into getting a nice watch. He chose a Breitling Super Avenger and loves it!!

Well Done Hoyas! There is nothing half as satisfying as converting a 'non-believer' to the true religion.
