I am a new member of TRF and have never had a Rolex in my life.

I own a few German watches including the SINN U1000, 2 x Stefan Koduke, Jochen Benzinger, MeisterSinger, 2 x Alexander Shorokhoff and Sothis, as well as a Chronoswiss, Alpina and Jaeger LeCoultre. I always thought that Rolex is too old for me, and I'm 45-50 years of age.

At present I am vacationing in the Bermuda Island and today it happened that I went into a Rolex AD. Then I tried on the new green Sub-C (116610LV). It was the most amazing, eye-catching watch I have ever seen (and worn on my wrist). I couldn't decide if I should buy it or not at that time. So I went back to the hotel and did some googling with it. Of course, you guys are on the found list, starting with Tom's excellent review. Since there is no sales tax in Bermuda, list price from this particular AD of U$7470 sounds a terrific deal. However, my concern is I am from Toronto, Canada, which means I will get taxed by Canada Customs when I return to my homeland. I believe duty and taxes are 20% altogether for this watch. Would you guys still consider it a great buy even with the heavy tax?

Many thanks to any of your comments.

Peter
Welcome to TRF, Peter.

I sent you a PM to answer your question, I think it is not the right place to discuss on prices here.

Kind regards

Tom

Thanks for the review

I would add that although the lugs are quite thick (which isn't a bad thing) they do sit very close to the wrist and I would go as far as to say that the SubC does sit flatter and more comfortably on the wrist than the GMTIIC.

Great review Tom. The 16610 is an iconic watch, however, the 116610 has changed enough for me to want one, especially the LV because it is just so different and absolutely gorgeous....

Thanks for the review, Tom. You definitely delved on the right details on this new Sub model. As for me, I just love everything on this new Sub, particularly on the Cerachrom bezel (so beautiful, shiny and elegant) plus the new glidelock mechanism and the large lugs, they do hug my small wrist pretty well. IMHO, it's the iconic Rolex Sub for the new generation.

Thx for the review, it was very pleasant! This makes me want the sub c even more now! I'm digging those wrist shots on page 2. Congrats on the LV sub c as well... Not my cup of tea but looks like it's getting some good wrist time!

Beautiful watch and and excellent review. I have a little trouble getting used to the MAXI dials, the hands look a short to me.
