Patek Madness (now 4)

Hi everyone,

Just last month I had an opportunity to pick up 2 more Pateks BNIB from the AD -they are both pieces that I thought were good ways to build a stronger relationship with my AD without losing much if any money. They are still both unworn. Feel a bit funny since I'm sitting now on 4 Pateks.

Current collection is now:
5167a Aquanaut - On bracelet and on black deployment rubber with brown rubber oem as well.
5711a Nautilus - White
(New) 5711r Nautilus - Rose gold - Paid MSRP
(New) 5130r Worldtime - Rose Gold - 15% discount off MSRP (interesting since this is a discontinued model)

I am in no hurry but it seems that in the end, the 5711 White and the worldtime are the 2 pieces i would probably end up with (one for dressy casual and one for formal) and wear my rolex GMT 1675 as the beater. At the same time, I am wondering whether I should hold on to the 5711r long-term (safe queen), wear it (take off stickers) or sell now.

With the aquanaut, seems that prices are now around $24-$25k and rising - I do wear it quite a bit but now getting redundant since I do have a PAM and a Rolex GMT for more casual wear - I work so much that my "casual time" is limited just to weekends. No matter what folks say, I still die a little inside each time the bezel gets scratched or dinged lol which prevents me from truly using it as a sports watch.

Any advice? Should I wear them and enjoy them and keep them? Should I flip them? Stock market is pretty top heavy so I hesitate to pour more into it.

id keep and wear them. I like them all and i think they are all different enough to justify keeping them.

The only thing i would consider is getting out of the 67 and replacing it with a 64 as 3 of your Pateks are three hands and a date window.

Thanks Tyler. I guess long-term these models aren't going to lose value. How are you liking the 15400? Is is worth selling the 5167 and getting a 15400 or 15202? I have thought about it for years but I keep hearing horror stories about the fragility of the APs.

no issues with it at all, however i prefer the 5711 to the 15400 in any dial option but its still a really nice watch. I actually would probably flip the 67 for a 15202 though.

Pateks are coming with stickers now? I haven’t seen that before. There’s a preowned 5980R in the FS section with stickers on the bezel also.

I'd keep and wear those, they are not going to get any easier to buy in future it seems. Let's see some pics of the new ones.

The stickers are around the clasp for the 5711 on both ends. The 5130 worldtime has a sticker for the "button" deployant. It's not a lot but it does signify its new. Especially now since they are required to unseal and take away the cardboard box.

Ok thanks. I knew about those. I doubt those stickers are worth much in terms of resale, more important to me would be overall condition and how much warranty is left.

I guess the BNIB premium isn't much huh. Might as well wear and treat it well over the course of years

I'll post some wrist shots when I get a chance. Here's my top 5 watches in my collection in a watchbox. It represents my version of "gold bars". I tried on the 5711r today and I shuddered. The finish, weight and the sheer elegance is beyond words. If you think a 5711 in steel is amazing, rose gold takes it to another level. Not a daily wearer but a "f*&^ off" piece to be hidden under a dress cuff to be revealed when needed.

I feel infinitely lucky that I have the means to enjoy Pateks. It's my guilty pleasure.

I’d sell any of them you view as investments and keep any you view as watches.

I'd get rid of the steel 5711 and aquanaut

Are you buying watches these to put in a safe or to wear them like they should be.?? For me the real investment is wearing these amazing pieces and feeling good about it not locking them away in the darkness...

I wear them all :). Gold is easily scratched so I have to be extra careful versus the stainless steel ones.
